MSA Sordin's are made for the Master race, LEFTIES.

Emtec Noise Breakers made in Shropshire by geniuses, topped off with Sordin Muffs and then a saucepan on your head for radiation and you should be well protected. Don't forget the Baco Foil.
Pissed myself laughing. and just dropped the gin.

For once i would like to be serious please :)

They are a silicone plug. Not soft and not hard if you get what i mean.

They have loads of places round the UK you can have your impressions done

for Noise Breakers just give them a call.

Fantastic service and product at a great price!

Sound good might give them a call.

How do you think they compare to muffs as far as noise reduction ?

See your local audiologists and they can make the moulds for you cost around 25 pounds, you then have them to send to whoever you choose to make your valves. A few choices you can get passive just a valve no electronics, theese alow normal sound waves in but if there is a loud bang (gunfire) the sound waves make the valve collapse and blocks off the air pressure feom your ear drum, active is the other type and it uses a small mic and amp to transmit the sound into your ear, obviously cutting off the harmful bit. Electronic over ear cans do the same as the active in ear type.

Having done the cens route etc...... still find 10p foam disposables the best because its simple and reduces sound level to where I want to be. If I were a coach I would use the cens cos you want to hold a convo with your student and talk normally, I dont like cans as I have said already . Ps cant you tell im bored and sat in my digs.

There is a review of the Emtec Noisebreakers on the site somewhere.  They are provided to Police Firearms Officers, so are obviously good enough to attenuate 9mm pistol and small centre fire stuff.

If you call them, they can tell you who deals with them, near you.

i dont want passive thing just custom plug dont want to hear any talking etc i assume they do this

try custom ear protection .  i have some of the passive filter type which are great . as good as normal muffs. think they do a solid plug also. usually at most of the game fairs and they will travel to fit a group.

Ips if you just want to cut out most of the sound try the disposables whilst your waiting for your impression to be done just remember to roll them tight then place them in your lug hole they slowly expand and prevent bad sound waves from hitting your drums. A lot of heavy shooters use them

will do. I have wanted to try plugs again for some time used foam ones when i started mid eighties but the ones i have tried lately dont seem to cut out as much as muffs prob got to stick with it

As Clever has already said plugs will not be as efficient as muffs because muffs cover a greater surface area over the ear cutting out possible avenues of sound to the hearing receptors, daft as it may seem noise can be transmitted to the ear via the skull.

Emtec are without doubt the finest moulded plug available. It would be very easy to arrange an appointment for a consultation and moulding at their laboratory on a Tuesday or the first Thursday in the month and then shoot at Hodnet afterwards. In fact I would think they may come to Hodnet to meet you as they are only about 8 miles away.

I wear foam plugs or Noisebreakers with Sordin Electronic muffs over the top.

I only shoot in moulded plugs...as I hate cans due to knocking them all the time.

But......I guard my plugs with my life because they are the most painful thing to have made (for me) due to a twisted ear canal.

If I lost them I would probably have to get used to cans.....because I would not want to go through that pain again.....!!!!!

As several have said before....noise via the skull is......a.......true story..!

What I cannot use unless in an emergency is the roll in between your finger foam cheap plugs (sorry boys) because they irritate the hell out of me as they move around during shooting and thus add an unnecessary distraction (for me).

Gotta support the noisebreakers, one of the best bits of shooting kit I've ever purchased, don't get on with cans and foams irritate the bejeebers outa me!

Yes this can be a problem for some who are thick skulled, twisted, an irritant , and an unwanted distraction .

But you know  I luuuuvvvv you, but I will not vie for your affection with Wylye.

My opinion is based on my experience,

over ear cans- bang stock on ear muff annoying enough to affect gun mount

In ear moulded jobby left ear perfect right ear gets sore after a while and have to be spot on with hygiene between shoots

Disposable foam ones, roll em up between clean fingers and insert at first stand take out at last stand and throw away. Anybody wants to have a full on convo whip one out and keep it pinched before replacing it after discussing annoying fluffy rabbits between stands! ..

I agree totally, the foam type have the best attenuation although I have heard that noise can be transmitted through the bony structure behind the ear as someone has stated, again look at the finger if it belongs to an expensive goods provider it might be pointing in the wrong direction. Of the foamy ones I have a liking for the Howard Leight Lazer Lites (pink and yellow jobbies), pence if you buy in bulk!

Cheers, will try some cheap foam jobbies 1st then... :)

Yes but ear plugs please :)

I want to go to plugs but want good noise reduction.

Is there a good quality none custom job other than disposable ?
I have heard good reports about the Heartech Silentear reusable plugs, I have some on order, (I'll post if they are any good), they can be got for £5 a set attenuation in the region of 33 decebels which is massively more than most cans. Every 3 decibels increases the sound pressure by a factor of 2 (doubles the noise).

Whatever you do take heed of the clean fingers advice if you ever have to use the freebie foamies. Ear infection is painful and magnifies tinitus by around 10 times.

This is sound advice (geddit) - but seriously, I wash my Noisebreakers every so often with soap and water - whatever you put in your ear needs to be clean and free of any foreign objects - I've seen people drop them on the floor before and put them straight back in their ear.... at the very least, use saliva as a natural antiseptic (if a bit gross).

They look good I might order some myself, let me know what there like please.
