To be honest I thought they would be dearer than £5 a slab more than Velocities. May have to try a slab and see what all the fuss is about. If they suit the gun better than the V's I'll feel like I'm being unfaithful, I've shot V's for that long now Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk

Always having your head turned?? First it's Women distracting you, now it's cartridges? Whatever next? Just hang on to that Miroku!!   :sarcastic:
No worries on that score TD. I luuurve my Miroku

Mate of mine used to shoot them before we changed to Churchills Hellfire load, I tried a few and found them to be quite dirty but they broke well though.

I've been shooting most the 24grm/7.5 plaswad version for a couple of years having weaned myself off the expensive Eley VIPs (I know most of it is in my head anyway, or not as the case maybe), they seem quite quick and I agree do break targets convincingly.   I've got both 24 and 28grm and can't tell the difference break-wise between them,

I have patterned them at Carl Bloxham's ground and they are really, really tight - I had some Eley Blues also 24grm at the same session as a comparison.  Carl had me pull the choke tubes to prove that I was shooting half and a quarter - on the Fblacks the pattern was tight and consistent and on the Eley Blues anything but.

Fblacks do leave a fair bit of debris in the barrels though, I'm getting mine Anthony Evans @ Claverdon Cartridges, circa £186/1000.

Around £185 / thou is about the going price for f blacks. Solware at Tamworth sell them in plas and fibre although fibre may be a different price.

I always keeps cartridges in the house anyway as I don't have a garage and I never load them in the car until the morning I'm off shooting. So mine always stay warm.

I can't be sure but I suspect if there stored cold or damp for any length of time before you get them the damage is done. I say this because my storage is good but I have had bad batches over the years that give the symptoms of being cold.

This could of course be bollox.

I had a slab recently and was very impressed with them. They do pattern tighter but that's no bad thing.

I think they are around £195 per thousand around here in Kent.

AS per Nic's advice I think I will try some 24gms

Well mate there good enough for OT targets edge on at prob 50 yds. No idea how that compares to a sporting target.

Don't know why all disciplines are not 24g ?

Agree entirely. I often shoot 24g at ABT and UT as I like them but I always wonder if that extra 4g would have got me some extra targets. Would be nice to not have to make the choice :)

Indecisive? Moi??

I used to be indecisive. ..........

Now, I'm not so sure.

F-black 24 grm clean as a whistle. Becoming my favourite cartridge.

But....people.....how any cartridge shoots depends on you and how you store it.

Keep them warm and dry........and you have no problem.

Let them get cold in a garage or shed....on the floor with no air circulation.....and you get what you get.

There is no magic with cartridges storage....you either do it right or you do it wrong....it is up to you.

Note..... I always warm mine up after delivery.....after being on a truck for a few days.

Note....I have not even got into firing pins and gun up keep.....life is too short.
+++++++++1  Think Fblacks are a great choice and whilst they shoot tight patterns have shot my best ever sporting round with them balls of dust from start to finish. Left a slab of Hull Pro ones in my boot during a cold spell and they left half their contents in the barrels so its not a brand issue.

I found a handful of very old shells including Winchester odds and sods today, lets just say the cold has been at them for a few years, will report how they pop and whether they leave any poo in the barrels.

Just as an aside I have shot nearly 3 slabs of FBlacks so far and the breaking characteristics are Superb  :D  , shot side by side with the Top1 you can clearly see the difference and there's nothing wrong with them either.

I do find they're a tad louder than most other ammo though, does anyone else find that is the case ?

I am a convert it has to be said!

It's the first time in my shooting experience that I have actually noticed the breaks being more "convincing"! It's probably because they pattern tighter....

It's good to hear people noticing a difference having had so many threads recently were many people have said a shell is a shell blah blah.

I rest my case mi lud.
