Not from me matey. If there is any issue then I make sure it is found and Italy know about it.

O.K. Nicola, I was wondering whether you had found anything further out about this problem.  Have Fiocchi said anything?

Nic, was ref the post above mine talking about difference between shells or not.

Ha if a comment about benders gets pulled the mug won't last 5 seconds!

I think it is a brilliant mug.....but yes...it probably would get pulled

I am buying a load of them for Christmas pressies....

Bobbykins is first on the list

Not sure this is relevant to this particular problem but here is an experience I had about 3 months ago during the first FITASC training day at Southdowns. I decided to use a Top One fibre skeet shell in the first barrel at a very close rabbit. I pulled the trigger and there was a sound like a wet f..t, clouds of smoke and hoots of laughter from behind me. Waited for about 20 seconds before opening the barrels and low and behold there was a wad stuck in the barrel about 100mm from the end. All the breech face and action was covered in soot like residue and very sticky - it took for ever to clean. The wad was very, very tight to get out with a cleaning rod back in the clubhouse. On close inspection of the wad, it would appear that said wad had got caught on the case during insertion in the manufacturing process, causing the wad to sit at an angle over the powder. There were unburnt flakes on one side of the wad. I presume the angled wad allowed pressure to escape past it on combustion, causing very little pressure to build up to give full burning of the powder and thus causing the wad to jam in the bottom barrel. I needless to say refused to use any more and Stuart of Rakers immediately agreed to change my remaining shells for FBlues. I had previously fired about 300 shells with no problem. I must admit that I had experienced a similar problem many years ago whilst home loading which was caused by the wad not seating squarely. I have some photo's but not sure how to get them on here from my Ipad mini - will persevere and you will see the results of the case.

The problem is only with top 1 fibre 28g. some of the cartridges in the batch had little or no powder in them hence wad not making it all the way up barrel. fiocchi have now sorted problem and replaced them with suppliers. some fblus have a problem with primers set too far into case. had a few of these in one batch recently.

I think the end result might have been somewhat different if I had been using my Beretta auto.

Strewth Ferret, that is a sorry looking specimen - part of it  reminds me of me cooking sausages on a barbecue, if you took the cap off, from the side they'd look identical.

Brilliant Fuzzy.....just what I needed. I will be sending the picture to the tech lab at Italy HQ this morning.

Thanks again for finding the pictures and for thinking of photographing them at the time.

How does stuff like this get out of the factory for goodness sake? The consequences could be very serious, especially for novices. I once stopped a customer firing another cartridge down a barrel blocked with a wad, he said he thought it would clear it!

Gulp!! Well it might have done....through the side of the barrel!!

Scary stuff this and a good reminder to always check your barrels are clear before sticking another catridge in.

Didn't think it would be long before you came along spiting and spluttering like an old woman over the washing wall...!

I do think that it is really important that anyone learning to shoot also learns how to LISTEN to what they are doing as well....it will certainly save accidents. Especially on game days..!

I cannot tell you the amount of times i have shouted 'NO' up the line to someone who had not realised that their cartridge had gone 'pop' when they fired and they were reloading another without looking. This is something not uncommon with fibre game shells. Part of my set up for clay or game (no matter how quick you are going ) is to glance the barrels when loading anything. It is worth it.

I can assure you (all) that Fiocchi are investigating this ...and ...taking it very seriously. Quality assurance is why they have the name and the success on the World circuit that they have.

And while we are on the subject.....after months of banging my head against the OT brick wall.....I finally had a personal best at Owls Lodge...after putting in a 22 and 20 to start with....my third round got me a 23.....!! Yippee....just have to keep getting there now. (and forgetting the crap scores i always put in at NCSC). It is amazing what a great background like that at Owls Lodge and A1 can do for the scores.

What was i using?.........Fiocchi Golden of course....bloody brilliant cartridge.

I bought some Fiocchi just to see what all the jazz was about. Granted I am a newbie but not noticed any increase in my scores, Fiocchi miss just as well as any other brand. However, I have noticed that my gun requires more cleaning after shooting with them. Will be going back to using Hull me thinks.

Hi Nic - no problems. I took the photo's more for posterity than anything else at the time.

It certainly hasn't put me off from using Fiocchi as I am using both FBlues and FBlacks at the moment. I used to use them all the time quite a few years ago when they came in reddish brown cases but they became so hard to get so I changed but had no hesitation returning to them when they became readily available again.

Having worked in explosives and QA over many years with the Armed Forces, I can tell you that very very occasionally duff examples slip through the net no matter how hard manufacturers strive to prevent it. User feedback - good or bad - still plays it's part to eliminate future incidents so if my experience and photo's help reduce future problems then I'm only too glad to .play my part.
