Youngest lad is happy, but dissapointed he will be missing out on young Guns @ Doveridge this morning.
Will see if he has time after to pop down for an hour or 2 practise.

Off hunting for a shiney gun now .
Was told licence will be with me next week. 5 weeks is very very fast considering the officer said this year he has to cover a vast amount of applications and renewals.
Question now is where or which places to go have a look with reasonable prices on secondhand...
Have a budget of around £1.5K , preference is Berretta or Miroku.
I don't have a clue on what the differences between the models, will mostly be shooting sporting, but will have some fun trying out other discaplines as well.

If you shop around you could almost get a Miroku and a Bertetta, but I guess they would be pretty old ones though. Or maybe you could get a trap gun and a sporter? There are some tidy enough guns out there for about £800 ish if you buy second hand. Miroku and Beretta are both great guns, but the handling is totally different in my opinion, one being a deep action and the other being shallow. I have owned both over the years and shot them well enough, I personally found Miroku to be more reliable though, but others may disagree of course. It's all down to what you feel comfortable with really. Have fun.

Around £1300 will get you a new Beretta Silver Pigeon 1 Sporter, around £1500 Will get you the new Beretta EVO, which is just a step down from the classic Gold E.
Both are excellent guns.
I do not know a huge amount about Miroku, but they are "larger" guns in the action (as has been said) whereas Beretta's tend to be slimmer.
You should be able to get a Grade 1 Browning 525 around your budget...a bit more will get you the new B725, which differs from previous Brownings in that it is slimmer, more Beretta ish...I also believe that it has mechanical triggers, rather than the more common Inertia type...but I might be imagining that.

As Les said you will find a good Miroku or Beretta for well under 1k. The rest on gear, cartridges, and a lesson or two if you need?
If you can, it would be worth your while to go to a clay ground/club having a word and trying a few guns out. A good club will/should be more than happy to help.
Do not buy the first thing that 'looks good'

Fully agree....but buy what you want, then make it fit you.
You wouldn't go looking for an Audi S4, but buy a Ford Fiesta just because that was the only car with the correct seat position and mirror alignment!
Guns are adjustable too
The firearms officer pointed out a gunshop just down the road from me. I had no clue the shop has been there for so long. Jumping up and down with excitment, it is a saturday, so had to give them a visit
Had a good look around some Miroku's and then i held and mounted a Berretta 682 Gold E How well this gun fits compared to the others i do not know yet, but it felt very very comfortable, and i think i found my first love :.:

The trigger wants to be in the right place. Check with somebody that knows, that you are holding the gun correctly before you decide that it is or is not. If its in the right place and its fixed, then all is well. Otherwise a moveable trigger is advantageous, as it can be costly to alter a fixed trigger..
The above is very true, adjustable is an advantage at times! I have had moveable triggers in the past and various people have asked why I have them set right at the back of the trigger guard. Well I don't really know why, I have big enough hands (with fingers like a pound of pork sausages or so I'm told) to have a trigger more forward, but for me it doesn't feel right to have my index finger sitting pretty much straight but slightly bent. I do prefer the pad of my index finger to be flat across the trigger, whereas some guys seem to favour a sort of side on approach to placement of the trigger finger. As yet I have never had a fixed trigger altered, as you say, it ain't a cheap thing to have done!
