You may as well get some synthetic golf gloves too! They have great grip and are shed loads cheaper than most other gloves, but pretty useless for cold weather I would think, but I don't shoot much in the winter, so for me it's not a problem!I purchased a pair of Macwets to use on my Driven Day's - they were completely useless, cold and not waterproof, I gave them away!
I've copied this from another forum where there is a similar thread running.
From what I've read it would seem that game type shooters prefer the Sealskinz, whilst clay busters prefer the Macwets which seem to provide grip, but little else.
Looks like I'll need to stock both when the shop opens.

Agreed, Macwets are horrible in the wet- although remain grippy. I get round this by not shooting when wet if I can help it!I purchased a pair of Macwets to use on my Driven Day's - they were completely useless, cold and not waterproof, I gave them away!

Agree with you there Will. I don't shoot in rain, fog, snow, hail, high wind or at any time when the temperature is less than about 15deg C. So basically I am now a fair weather/summer (if we get one) shooter!Agreed, Macwets are horrible in the wet- although remain grippy. I get round this by not shooting when wet if I can help it!
There's a lot of that goes on in this sport.....So MacWets let water in, aren't warm, need 1/2 size accuracy, wear out every three months and you can't actually shoot in them ^_^ , triumph of engineered marketing over substance or what?
I guess that you've not shot much this year then?Agree with you there Will. I don't shoot in rain, fog, snow, hail, high wind or at any time when the temperature is less than about 15deg C. So basically I am now a fair weather/summer (if we get one) shooter!
Hammy I will stick with synthetic golf gloves mate. They normally last about 2 or 3 years for me, but had current ones since about 2006/7. Only about £12 a pair too!!!So MacWets let water in, aren't warm, need 1/2 size accuracy, wear out every three months and you can't actually shoot in them ^_^ , triumph of engineered marketing over substance or what?
That's about right mate! I no longer need a coat to shoot in really and have not shot in wellies since I first tried sporting back in the 1980's. OT shooting and wellies and Barbour coats just don't seem to go together somehow! Us trappies are funny like that.I guess that you've not shot much this year then?
I've shot most weeks through the year, I can count on one habd the number of times that I've been able to shoot without a coat and wellies on.
