Wow, just tried out my "back up" gun which has just returned from the local gunsmith with an added Isis 23mm Original Green pad (Order placed before the new ones were available). Its amazing, 21g loads feel none existent, 24g very soft, and 28g like 24g's used to before the pad was fitted. At the same time (and before testing the gun) I dropped off my Zoli sporter with the order for an Isis full system and Pad, Im now wondering If I should just go for an XPad, and save a few quid; if they really are that much better than the originals. Does anyone have a view, or experience of all of the above to help me make the right decision?
I have the Full ISIS 2 and I have the adjustable pad.  I don't use the adjustable pad, but it is very versatile if you did need it.

I am sure that the X pad is very good, if it is better than the Surefit pad.  However, it will not be better than the full ISIS system, for obvious reasons.

If you could reduce the recoil down to the same level, with hi-tech composite foam as you can with a combination of foam and shock absorber...then we would have foam suspension on our cars.

If you don't like the idea of the ISIS system, perhaps for cosmetic or financial reasons or even if you don't feel the need for that level of reduction; then there is no better pad than those offered by Recoil Systems.

The adjustable pad will not help with your comb, but can help with gun mount/position. I have recently fitted one and set it up so it fits in my shoulder pocket every time, its improved recoil and gun mount vastly well worth the investment.

chicken curry no worry

Hi i have a isis and 25mm pad on my DT10 and its perfect can shoot all

day what ever loads i like no problems.East to fit just take your time.

I have no quarms about resale value, how it looks etc. I also realise that the full isis system is better, the question is by how much and versus the other 2 options, anyone with ft/lbs data would be much appreciated.

Mine was fitted by a local cobblers, yesterday I took it back so he could shave a bit more off the sides towards the back as it was catching on my jacket, total cost so far £2.50  :D  .
Mind you I dropped a new Loake and a new Barbour brogues in for protective under soles fitting plus a favourite belt that has cracked and which I can't seem to find a replacement for to be either repaired or completely re-made, oh and the wife's fashion wellies she has only once worn needed seam repair........I'm sure he'll go easy on me.  :bb: [/quote

Loakes are a licence to charge double and if you pulled up in that posh motor of yours then the sky is the limit.

Decision made, going to try the XPad first, if that doesnt work then Ill consider sending the stock to the lumber Mill for the full system

I have had all of them from the beginning and just after buying the adjustable one I bought an EvoComp stock (which is fully adjustable anyway) so I never used the adustable green pad ..i put my standard green on it. Think Andy on here had it so could tell better.

My wife uses the adjustable one that Nic never had fitted, mainly to correct a cant when mounting the gun. I understand that the recoil reduction is very good even with it off set, we even had it slightly low to raise the stock and there was no noticable difference, however we have now had an adjustable comb fitted so the pad is back to what would be standard height.

I had a full Isis recoil reducer on my old gun (Perazzi) and loved it. I'm recoil sensitive and It allowed me to shoot  game shells with no ill effects. I was going to fit one on my new gun and rang Dave at Recoil Systems to talk through the options. He is always helpful.

He suggested that as I was now used to the 'feel' of recoil though an Isis system, no pad would compensate for that -  even the new one. So his advice to me was to go straight to the full Isis. He did say that the new Xpad is considerably better at absorbing/redistributing the recoil shock than the old green version. And I know the green ones are good as I've had them on other guns.

However; I have now shot the new gun several times and find the perceived recoil very low -  even with a standard thin Perazzi factory pad. So I'm going to try an Xpad before I fully butcher the stock and have an Isis system fitted.

I am going to order one for my wife's Miroku trap gun. How tricky are they to cut to shape as I have just been quoted £120 just to fit.

You have been quoted by a robber. At least twice what it should cost, even if the stock needs cutting.

I scribed round mine and sent it back for shaping. £30?

You could buy a decent used Mirook for that   , see an earlier post of mine where I paid £2.50 to a local shoe repair shop to trim it to shape using his belt sanders.

easy to do if you've a belt sander, 15 minutes max -  Malcolm Jenkins only charges £90 to fit an Isis system and that usually involes cutting the stock so someone's tryin to take your trousers down !

Yes, not just cutting, but whole excavation neatly done inside too..

I was quoted £200 to fit a full ISIS to my Miroku 6000. Sounded a bit dear so I declined their offer and will try elsewhere.

Tobi,

Malcolm is the man. Done it a zillion times and has the tooling. So neat and under £100. He also understands the device and is a good shot!

I would second Malcolm.  Slightly odd telephone manner, but a lovely guy.  I fitted my own ISIS and did a decent job of it, but is probably not for most people, as it involves cutting, drilling and routing out hunks of wood...having a jig for that would be VERY useful.

Highly recommend Malcom.
He's worked on my CG and currently completely redesigning a DT10 for a young lady close to my heart
Top man.
