Just what I was thinking.......great idea Bryan.

Hi
Very rarely do I get involved with threads on forums but on this occasion I feel I must explain our price increases clearly.
Earlier on in the year we had an ex factory price increase of 6 euros per thousand on our universal plastic and 8 euros per thousand on our universal fibre .
At the same time we have suffered a weakening of the pound from around 1.25 euros per pound down to 1.16 euros per pound at the time of last delivery .( yes I know it is 1.175 today)
This in itself adds £6.50 net per every £100 .

Put together this is around £11.5 per thou increase on plaswad and £13.1 on fibre.
If you add the lovely uk vat of 20 percent and average dealer margin of 10 percent you will find that should be a increase of over £14 per thou retail on plaswad and over £17 on fibre.
The increases on higher end cart have been higher per thou but in line percentage wise.
So it doesnot take a genius to work out that we have actually eaten into our margin to support the weaker pound , in the hope that it will get better soon.
The reason the drago skeet went up by so much is that we initially miss priced it as a universal trap 24 gram and could not carry on with that price as it was below cost.
On the subject of delivery , the only people who are 1.4 s licensed to carry shotgun cart are palletline who charge around £30 for a quarter pallet uk delivery.
We like to keep things legal and maybe you should check that couriers bringing your cart know they are bringing explosive material.
We believe we have a quality Italian cart at a very good price ( Cheddite supply components to a lot of the UK cart loaders)
If you think investing 6 figures in stock to make around 4 percent trade margin is extracting the urine then maybe you should think again.
I hope now you know the true facts you will understand better.
I will not be drawn to comment on this thread again .

Hi bryan

Bryan/Malmo, thank you for a very comprehensive and measured response which more than explained the reasoning behind the price rise across the Cheddite range. If you found my initial post offensive I do apologise and it was not intended to draw you into a long debate or distasteful argument. Perhaps other companies should take note and offer some reasoning on their own behalf. Once again thank you for taking the time.

Hi Ian
I will chck antimony on uni , to be fair Nigel had not had confirmation from cpsa that it was the lancs champs so could not give Rus the trophy.
He is a fair and honest man and a good ref, so I can understand his position.
I'm sure Rus will get the deserved trophy when it is sorted.
Bryan

Hi Blackstar
No offence taken whatsoever , the cart market is a hard one to be in very competative particularly on the hard fought cheaper end of the market.
We really are trying to keep the price of Cheddite attractive then we can break into the market more but it is hard with the weak pound
And constant increasing costs.
Our primary business is selling guns (1500 a year) and clothing so we really do not need to profiteer on cart , we don't have reps on the road and have our own premises for storage and distribution.
We know that the quality for price is very good and are truly trying to keep them competative whilst also needing to make a profit!
As we buy in euros the pound strength or weakness is a massive factor!
Best regards Bryan

Funny thing is that on there web site on a march (or there abouts) comp it was listed as lancs etc champ so thats two in one year. Very strange, very confusing. Anyway a fun day NOT i was squad one only 3 of us how does that happen, one of which had never shot Dtl before. Jeez.

scores for us all tell a story.

Bryan ( Malmo),

You DO have rep's on the road promoting your company.

Kevin Mayor, Graham Stirzaker ( he needs a new sweatshirt) and last but by no means least .

Dave Winter, he's like the common cold, he's everywhere telling us how good Cheddite are and what a GREAT company you are to deal with.

And Salop......my hubby.....who gets his Cheddites from A1 Shooting Ground....another of the importers.

Not much profit in cartridges which is why they are hard to discount.

Fiocchi have been managing to keep their prices in check especially the value for money training ranges like Top 1 and TT2.

I think it needs to be said that cartridge sales are possibly an evil necessity for gun shops who actually make far more profit on clothing and fishing tackle sales.

But I do think it would be good if we could have some sort of performance pricing criteria  ie budget, club competition , premium grade .

Rather than being ripped off with Italian F grade cartridges that are hyped up by a saleswomen. When we all know that RC are the best followed by Clever and then the British reloading companies ( note I didn't say British cartridge companies)

Can I just ask a legal question please ?

When we all go and pick up cartridges we produce our Sg certificates , when we have a pallet delivered of 20000 or so so lorry turns up and says hello , are the drivers all Sg cert holders or have they got a disclaimer ??????

Often wondered

I've rarely blamed the middle men for the disparity or costs of shells, it's the manufacturers who are extracting the maximum mileage from lead costs rises etc, but who refuse to drop prices when these drop in price.

Stop it Salop..... people think you are serious....you know they could not afford me.

Not sure it is a 'legal' question but it is an interesting one.....and for once i have to say that i do not know the answer re transport....I am not sure of the transport rules.....or in fact if they are covered in the Act.

I am not 100% sure on the legal position either - but I do know it is not illegal to posses cartridges without an SGC.
