Worsley, I just give up now, the envelope is worth more on some of the registered shoots I have won.

Some have been a good turn out just mainly birds only shooters and sod all it the pot.
Midweek Sportrap?

5 comp entrants?

Winner takes all?

:p

To be fair Timps wasn't that for a 50 bird Sportrap with about 8 competition entries?

or just ditch class payout and pay 150,125,100,90,80,70,60,50,40,35 - £800
yes this certainly could be worth looking at,should help stop sandbagging aswell

Think all this is academic really, the individual grounds will carry on doing exactly what they want, which if you believe in capitalism is exactly as it should be!

Entered 2 reg sportrap’s 2 H/G’s one I went comp, one I didn’t bother.

But that's my point, you don't know what you are going to get when you sign up for the comp before hand at a lot of shoots as there are so many going birds only. Within one month I paid £5 to enter comps at Shugborough (finish 2nd and get nothing even though the place was busy), Fauxdegla (finish 1st I get £15) & then Kingsley Moor (I get joint 3rd and end up with £35 which I was ecstatic about), not complaining about the grounds ripping me off, they didn’t, just saying you need a good prize structure in place before sign on to get people to enter or a levy on all entrants and divvy it up at the end otherwise you will continue to get a plethora of B/O entries.

I am now one of them at a lot of grounds due to it not being worth it when I have got placed there in the past, put £2 on my entry or guarantee payouts in class and I am happy to pay the £5.

I dont know how many of you have been on the circuit for or for how long, but it has been going on for years do really think this poll will change the bigger picture? Hopefully it will give Matt's ground owner an insight into what he is up against! ;-)

Like I have said before 100 pound HG has been around since the 80's, The payouts have always been poor and grounds set their own rules. You go where you think you can win a decent draw if you shoot well or you just shoot for fun?

Ripp off Shooting always has been always will be but we keep coming back for more for a good spanking because we love it! :)

On a positive note on Friday I am travelling up near Amsterdam for the Dutch Grand Prix. Last year just on entry I got a quality goody bag. Gun cleaning kit, cartridge case a box of shells, a Dorhout Mees Hat (That's the ground) and some other little bits!!! Bet those who shot the BGP Fitasc didn't get a good bag like that if at all???

Prizes will be good just like last year cash in classes which are split from all scores at the end! No sandbagging there then! There's a pool shoot on all day and although expensive it is paying out a cash prize every 10 entries...nice!!!

They even have a 50 bird pre comp Thursday where you can win your entry for the main event!

UK = JOKE!!!! :)

Come and shoot over in Holland lovely people and loadsa cash n prizes! Lovely jubbly rodney! ;-)

Better to be big fish in a small pond and be recognised than a nobody in the UK!

is this relative to your current class ? and would your views be different if you had stayed in a lower class ???? and were more competitive in that said class >>>>>>> trust me AA requires one hell of a performance to take some spoils home

Lower classes should just get a trophy and pay for Birds only apart from the majors!
Most of us could go birds only, but with a chance of getting something back we put into the prize pot.

If the lower classes put in class winning score they will go up.

It will cost more to sandbag than they win .......................!

I'll be there about 11? had nice weekend at hickenham? chat today with a ground owner things ant looking good for fiaco?WHY it gets good support.in the uk?Theres loads of politics we mere shoooters don't have a clue?

this goes back to the old hang up about tougher targets..........if you can win money on a regular basis and stay in your class, why do we see such a resentment to tough shoots ? all the lower classes can make a slower progression to the next class instead of class jumping by shooting over their true ability at and on rubbish ???

I'm telling you now if 75% of the forum members started uuuuummming and arrrrring over their shooting and just got out there and shoot instead of worrying about rubbish then their scores would go up and they might actually win something! Some of the things I read are hilarious! Pure comedy.... ;-)

The original view came from when I was back in B class, and doing quite well, it was the getting nothing for 2nd when there was a large B class entry but most going birds only and a few other shoots where I got £10 or £15 for a win, (I also got nothing for 3rd a few times as well) so I stopped entering comps at grounds whilst in B and I was very competitive at the time.

To be honest paying £5 & finishing 6 or 7 and getting nothing does not bother me, finishing 2nd and getting nothing does, if that makes sense, hence why I don’t mind the levy idea as you will get something for top 3.

I have been in A class for the last 2 classifications and I actually started entering comps at a few more grounds again as I see more comp entries on the board in A than other classes so figure it’s worth winning again. I have hit a very big slump recently but still enter at certain grounds.

I know winning AA is one hell of a performance, I would never take that away from anyone, just pointing out when a shooter pays an extra £5 with the sole intention to win some money then when he doesn’t get anything for a place or it’s pitiful he tends to stop paying the extra £5 and just shoots for the competition aspect.

£150 HG, which is also the 1st place in the class it came from. (probably AA)

£120, £80,£50 in AA (although if HG was a AA, then the first place is not paid out)

£100, £70,£40 in A (ditto above if A HG)

£80, £50, £25 in B ( ditto above if B HG)

£60, £40, £20 in C (ditto above, but if HG comes from C then fraud squad are called)
I really like this idea!

Along the lines of what Emmsy said,do away with classes, and thereby abolish sandbagging,do away with 'birds only' to increase the competition entry money and then nominate a fixed portion of the entry fee to go towards the prize pot.

Pay High Gun (the title sounds good) and pay out to twelfth place. If a shooter under the classes system could finish second in 'C' class they would be about twelfth in this system.

I've never understood the 'birds only' idea,if you enter a competition you should expect to pay the appropriate entry fee.

Vic.

My view on birds only is that it covers the cost to shoot the competition, any other monies paid is for those who like a gamble.
