Well don't read it then, simples. I am sure the WI have a very interesting forum for you. Sorry Nicola but why should every thread on here have to interest you? Sorry to burst your bubble but you really aren't that important. Obviously some on here are finding it interesting as they are all taking the time to post. Sorry if i sound off but it really does seem like this forum is run by you.
Oh poooie you are being precious again.....

You have just answered your own question....

It is a forum...

Anyone can have a say...

(Forgot that you don't think I should have any say) not that that matters a damn.

Does your wife know that you talk to strange women on the Internet ?

I am only talking to you now because I am polite and answering your question (bored really - ninja mode)

Hoping to raise my strength and go for a ping.......before I am terminally bored....!

It is not nice being ill you know.

Can I suggest you chill out Moore.....or at least post something interesting.......

I can assure you....I am not the only one who is getting terminally bored...

I have the perfect supply solution for cartridges. The guy who runs one of our local clay grounds texts me when he's ordering cartridges .I tell him what I want and when they arrive ,usually in a few days, he phones to say that they have arrived. I then go and pick them up the same day and all at the same price as the cheapest advertisers on the internet.

He doesn't have to carry stock and I get what I want at a good price.

I have long ordered stock in. Usually because I want what they don't keep on the shelf and because I buy them once or twice a year in bulk. It does give you the chance to go for best price. Good point about no stockholding for the dealer.

Looking at uk prices it seems irish prices are very good I'm paying much the same in € as as you's are paying in £

I now know why they don't shoot too many targets at Helice...  just found some Winchester  ZZ cartridges €440 per thou plus €30 carriage ..eekk !

Take my advice.......don't buy them

I thought when I started reading this thread someone might actually tell the truth. I was wrong.

In the past year since I started shooting, I have repeatedly heard the same two statements; "You don't make anything on cartridges" and "there's not much profit on clays".

Pretty sure both are complete rubbish. No one does any business for the fun of it, and 5-10 percent margins are not enough to run a business.

I am guessing in this relatively small sales arena it is all about putting off any new competition.

Good question Clever... I don't know :) Where I shoot we charge €3, non members pay €4, for 25 targets and don't lose money so I am, guessing at around 10p each !

April 2012

21 months ago? Probably nearer 10p a clay now I would think

Doubt there would be a 25-40% price increase in 21 months and it appeared to me that this is a current price list - or at least it is on a 'current' page.

Bywells are also advertising them at £12 for a box of 150 which is again 8p each.  http://www.bywellshootingground.co.uk/store/clay_targets/clay_pigeon_company_

I think that the couple of boxes I bought last summer were around that price.  Hope this helps.

I have heard that OK quality clays can be had for around 5p if you import a container load from the the continent.

Well - Thereyou have it from a savvy shooting ground operator and I am sure that those gunshiops that do similar with importing shells and creating their own brand will be in the same boat - getting a big advantage over those that don't!

To do it you have to have the funds and build an outlet capable of selling that container load quickly otherwise the stocking costs, VAT etc are going to crucify you especially if interest rates are high which they aren't at present.

Wez - we are not talking of running a business purely on selling shells - look at the Sportsman in Exeter! Sometimes the shells on view probably only take up 3 sq feet of floor space for 2 piles but sometimes it's much more like 25 sq ft but out of a total of about 5,000 sq ft with the rest down to guns, clothing and accessories plus room to view the goods.

10-11 pounds per 150, just hot off the press 10.44 for black which is about 7p each. £11.17 for blaze
