Last week to shoot this folks!

I reckon to guarentee a place in the final you will need a 92, with handicap.

The final is May the 8th I believe. I will be in it, likely along with a good few from here: Ed S, Steve Lovatt, Banger, Chris Childerhouse at least.

Hope the lunch is good. Me and Steve L split a spare portion last year. Highlight of my day! :D

Got the email invite and accepted for the final. However, have had no details re timings etc. might be that they posted something to my old address? Any of you finalists on here get info yet? Assume cant contact RBSS now due to weekend and bank hol. Will pitch up at 9.00am unless I hear different..

No one contacted me so I rang them, like you said 8.45.......9.00.

Why don't they put more info on there web site, would save us and them loads of time.

By the way wil must have miss counted at ejc 87 it was.......

Cheers

I got an email asking if I can come. At the moment am undecided, will have to be a last minute job if at at all.

I ought to be at work.. Bit daft to have it attached to long weekend really. I hope the weather isn't awful, or it could just stuff it for me. Hope not.

Looking like I'll be missing it this year. Shame, as you say seems a silly day to do it.

Well,

Just got back from the final.

I stayed dry, just, and wasnt cold. All ended with a great lunch, I was sat next to John Bidwell and Wes Stanton of `Clay Shooting`, so a good day.

As ever, a very tough new course, but nothing stupid. The Handicap HG was Nick Channer, with 82+11. He was on my squad and I reckoned he would win it, although he didnt seem to realise how well he was doing.

GD hit most clays, on 90, which tells you how firm it was -and there were some good names there. Nick Hendrick and Olie Baker were next up on hits I think, with 87 and 86. Chris Childerhouse 85. Steve Lovatt was on my squad and hit 82 clays, plus 4? HC, so was up there.

I hit a fighting 72+11, which put me 24th out of the 59 entries. (I think it was also 24th in actual hits too..) LOTS of folk didn't make 70 or anywhere near.

Roll on next year..

Yes, the grouse was the only bit that remained as per the qualifying course..

Half the shooters failed to hit 70 clays. I had a horrible 3 on one stand, but rescued it back a bit with a 9 on a fierce sim driven stand, where most dropped a few at least..

Interesting fact is that the winner was the ONLY person to hit more clays than their CPSA average. This proves how tough it was but also how it is all about exceeding your usual performance to hit the top spot.

It was tough, but there was no stand that didn't belong there. With it being firm all the way round, everybody tripped up somewhere. I kicked myself for hitting 7 on a stand where I had hit the first two pairs. Then Alex Cobb went on and hit a 3!

what were the prizes like after top 3 ?

I was there and and it was a very good layout. Nothing particularly scary but still very easy to drop the odd bird if your concentration wasn't on the money. Familiar story amongst most contestants and I think the grouse scuppered one or two would be winners.

A good day all in all with some good prizes - Mr Digweed looked well chuffed with his 2000 Superbs for shooting the highest scratch score!

I didn't shoot too well but then the wife had delivered a fine baby boy 03:30 that morning so I was shot to pieces well before I turned up!

Maybe next year......
