The beauty sports this weekend will see things put to a test. Park local to me I’m told was rammed to the gunwales yesterday.

.
Had to check what gunwales were, my late Father was in the navy and always refered to them and the saying as 'gunnels' 😃

I‘ve never heard it pronounced  any other way than “gunnels” myself.
Here you go:   Gunwales' is pronounced like 'gunnels' and it is often spelled that way too. ... That suggests that the gunwales of a ship were its 'gun walls', which is exactly what they were - hence the spelling. They were the strengthened area for the cannons, on the old sailing warships.

I have to wait another baker's dozen of years for this, but I surely look forward to exactly that. Meanwhile I can practice to the point from where I can teach her once the day comes...
Been thinking about this quite a bit and as much as the wife loves the thought of me and the boy going off to shoot, I'm not convinced it'll be a viable option when he gets old enough, purely down to the huge expense this hobby carries. 😕

Think I'll take up fishing with him instead when the time comes. 😊
