If your God spares you and you awake in the morning, every day is a good day - rain, snow, hail or sun. Same with my shooting, just went out and did it. Of course it could effect your average, but that's a shooters life.

I have not long got home from shoot all looked good until ten minutes before the first stand then the sky opened up but still put in the best score to take high gun so I don't care how wet I was.i never let the weather dictate my shooting.

Don't normally shoot if its too bad (this time of year) but need to start getting out so did grange today and got very cold wet and blown about! Company was good though so not a disaster!

Thanks for the photos Tinker Bell. Suitably envious now.

Looks wonderful. Best of luck with your shooting there.

Before today I was on the fence on this, could take it or leave it but after just having been stood around waiting for traps to be fixed and having see no end of no birds whilst I got wetter and my hands turned blue, I am now officially a pussy. I couldn't feel my hands and struggled to load the gun on the last two stands. In summary I would rather have a red hot poker stuck up my bottom than go through this mornings mis-adventure again. Fair weather shooter from now on.

OK, Gun clean & dry,  Santa, warm & full of caffiene :)

I  shot Chichester sporting gun club this morning ,   2 X 26 bird rounds

The set up is based around a wood, with some birds on the fringes accross the fields,

The majoritory are either in clearings, going through the trees, or above the treeline / rising of ralling

The weather this morning was dire, with driving rain S/N  - we were wet before we started :)

Stand 1  - A simple RL approaching looper, if the wind was blowing it stayed away, if is wasnt it came in close  as well as the rain!!!

Round 1  Killed both - Round 2 Killed both, (but the 2nd time the birds were held away by the round)

(Manged to get whacked in the chest with a chunk of incoming  clay from the guy shoting with us as he broke his bird  .)

Stand 2   - A high  overhead going away into the trees,  First bird about 10 degees to the left of the second

Round  1  Killed the first,  missed the next 3   - Round 2  Killed the first from each pair missed the second

Stand 3  - High L/R crosser, a 40 degree window of oppertunity, but in reality only the last 15 degrees  were the kill zone

Round 1  Killed the first from each pair missed the second Round 2 - Killed the first from each pair missed the second

Thought id done much worse, as i was literally in the last 5 degrees of visible area when i pulled the trigger

Stand 4 High going away bird, with a slight LH curve

Round 1  - Missed the firstX2  killed the second X2   -  Round 2 Killed the firs tX2 , missed the second X2

Stand 5  A large clearing with the bird going away rising from R/L

Round 1  - Killed the first pair, Missed the first of the second pair  -  Round 2  Missed the first x2, and killed the second x2

Stand 6  Very high bird, going 50 degrees upward R/L  edge on,  once it reached its apex, it dropped back like a stone!

Round 1  - Missed the first killed the second, missed the 2nd pair - Round 2 killed the first pair - missed the first on the 2nd and killed the last

Stand 7  A low L/R crosser diving between two trees , (a 6ft window of oppertunity)

Round 1 Killed the first missed the 2nd missed the 2bd pair   - Round 2 Missed the first 2, killed the 3rd and missed the fourth

So my first round score was 11

2nd round score was 14  :)

Super happy with the 2nd round, manged to get over 50%

Looking back through my scorecard, i didnt blank on any stand,  as per my previous outings .

Looking forward to next month :)

(providing its not raining)

Pretty wet and windy at Westfield this morning, didn't trouble the prize fund but still really enjoyed it..... and I guess that is what it is all about....

Open question - what is everyones thoughts on going home halfway through a shoot...

At Hornet today - on one squad (not mine), 5 out of 6 people left after the third parcours... leaving GavB (of this parish) - to shoot his last layout ALONE - so first up on singles and doubles throughout.

My squad of seven soldiered on, and I'm just drying out now.

Discuss...

Bad form unless a very good reason such as illness or death.

I assume this was due to weather? If so, pretty stupid as anybody with a brain knew it was going to be miserable before they started..

I think once you have made the decision to go out and shoot and are already wet, you might as well just carry on.... It's not as much fun but at least you don't have to queue much...

However possibly not as bad as one occasion I was on a squad of 2 at ot comp (got there late due to traffic) other bloke decided to give up on last line after 15 targets but kindly decided to carry on and call for his target but not shoot at it or even raise the gun, very strange. Luckily I managed to persevere and shot a 24 despite my mind wondering what was going on, and no he wasn't ill or dead or ran out of shells.

Matt 5 is really bad they knew about the weather 5 days ago should have a telling off unless they are really old like madmatt and Nic
