Hopetoun sporting today, same venue as last week's FITASC shoot...what a piece of ground to set a sporting/FITASC shoot!!!

Started on stand 2, shot the first 50 straight...then stand 5 happened!!!

shot the tower and hanging crosser well though Doug ....
Thank you, Clynt.

I was really pleased with that stand as it wasn't an easy one and required consistency in the mount and movement.

As you said, when I broke that rhythm and my hold point shifted I missed that bird. It was a helpful pointer as I just assumed my lead was out but didn't know why.

Saturday: Left the comfort of the Cotswolds and ventured up to Garlands for the England selection shoot run by Steve. Nice ground and some great presentations. I got completely caught out by stand 2 trying to shoot a black clay against some really black clouds and blanked it. Made a few more silly mistakes to end of 65 when I feel I should have cleared 70.

Sunday: Wedgnock for a bit of fun. Some sporting and some sport trap. 80% sporting and similar on the sport trap.

Sunday. What a cracking day in the South East UK!

Bumbled off to Willow farm to pick up my £35 for winning B class last week. Found I had been bumped to A class. Fair's fair!

Nice 70 birder, came away with 53 so not enough to even get a mention but 1 better than last week. Should have been a 60 perhaps 62 without the silly ones dropped.

They do put on some good targets at Willow Farm. Stand 2 a little one just popping up from behind a tree giving you about a second to see it and kill it followed by an over the right shoulder one. good one. Very good targets on the last stand. Nicely done Willow Farm.

The compact was running, managed a paltry 10 and then improved to 17. 2 off-in-the-next-county birds proved to be card killers. trap 2 a looper that barely got above the trees and trap 3, long way off, right to left and curling away. Challenging but satisfying to find them and smoke 'em even with 1/2 choke at that range.

20 was the leading score when I left. No doubt the AAA blokes will be along to take the prizes but that's hardly the point.

Nice morning out!

That's the way it works at Willow Farm.  Win your class twice and up you go (unless you shoot Ladies, which is advantageous there as they charge you less).  I rarely shoot the Sunday morning opens, but like the targets there and the fact they change every week so am there most Saturdays for a practice round.

I had a pretty good morning at Four Counties, joint PB of 89 which is miles better than my last effort of 60-odd there.

Read most of the targets well and took my time in planning what I was doing and slowing down between pairs.

Shot barrow today, excellent round up there, had a good chat with Phil afterwards and said how good it was out there today. Came away with a 56 I believe, still consistent with my scores but keep getting close to that 60 mark and not quite breaking it yet which is frustrating but it will come

Very good round. And I was just in the money when we left but it was only 12 o'clock.

3 hours drive to shoot FITASC The Snowy North of Scotland...Dell Glelivit. Two BAD misses/lapses of concentration on each layout cost me dear...21 20 20 21 to finish on 82. Don't know what HG was yet, would think 93(?)

Mental weekend Really

travelled up to garlands for the

selection shoot sat A very clever

set of targets again from Steve

everybody talking of 97 but shoot

won on a 95 well shot Brett !!

I managed a 92 which I was very pleased with and 3 points ?

Sun A visit to Dons at podimore

for Somerset county fitasc

A very fair set of targets with lots of variety some described it as proper old fitasc which you got to

work hard for really good shoot

I couldent really get going felt as if

I didn't want to be there but

mansged to keep it together for

A 89 joint high gun with the fitasc

Legend and good friend

R P Cherry ?

Also won the county championship so overall a cracking

weekend !!

It seems as though I have two entries on the CPSA from last weekends shoot at Garlands. I shot Saturday but I have the same score recorded for both Sat and Sun. I assume that isn't correct and a call to the CPSA is required?

Same for me, shows 2 probably get corrected eventually.

As I'm busy this Sunday I think a practice session at Carl Bloxhams ground (Stratford Upon Avon) on Saturday morning is in order. Probably get there fairly early doors, if anyone is going then give me a shout.

My first sporting competition today. Nothing registered, 60 birder charity job in Bishops Stortford. 45/60 which I'm happy with; 2x 10/10 and a 9/10 means the other stands need a bit of work... Took a while to go round, there were a lot of people shooting, but fun nonetheless. Was also great to see Liz Cook & family there.

Horne on my own today.  I think everyone was at Southdown as there were no long waits.  OK with my 65, but know that I let quite a few get away from me.  Too many last pair misses.  Need to stop thinking about it being the last pair and then hanging on to the shot longer than I should.  Stand four gave me a kicking (the platform) but picked myself up and was feeling good by the end and straighted stands 11 and 12 to finish.

Other way round for me only missed the first one out on stand 4 but missed 5 on the blinking rabbit stand!  Frustrating.
