First competition for over a month due to a combination of holiday and not having a gun.

Braved the winds and went over to Westfield. Quiet car park which meant a quick round which was a good thing in the wind!

Managed to card 83 which eclipsed my previous best score at the ground of 74.

HG was ‘only’ 92 when I left so interested to see what the final scores look like!
Well shot Doug, you ought to buy that borrowed gun ?

Horne for me and I didn't shoot well in the wind.  Finished on a 64.  Stand 2 and the platform were the low points, with lots of other mediocre bits as well.  Buttoners didn't help me today either.  One decided to release before I'd called and the other waited about 3 seconds and I'd lifted my head.  Stupidly I just shot, I should have stopped and made them go again.
It was pretty windy down the bottom section. Skipped 2 and shot it last. Shot right at them and dusted all 8. Didnt start so well. The simo pair off the platform was a silly set of targets in todays wind - I was more than happy to come away with 50% on that one. Managed to recover a little in the 2nd half to end on a 74. Another poor target was that yellow battue on 6 that took ages to appear and then dropped out of the trees giving you very little time before it hit the ground.

Didn't mind Stand 1, missed the first two incomers in front, slowed myself down and got on them for an 8.  I expect everyone's scores will be a bit down.  My husband did fairly well with an 80.  He almost unfailingly shoots fast swing through and takes targets early, which is an advantage when it's windy.  He even got a 7 on the battue stand.

Started the day attending Pete's memorial shoot at Gunsite which I found emotional.  I enjoyed it but the wind was no-one's friend today.  Then we went on to Westfield which was actually the last ground I saw Pete two weeks before he left us and that gave me a bit of a lump in the throat.   I can recall the conversation.  It was as windy and we got caught in a bit of rain.  Messed up one stand big time.  Two good shoots.

With some clever calendar appointments in Outlook I was able to stop off at Oxfordshire Shooting School this morning on the way to work to shoot their 50 bird registered.

Went in to the last stand having missed 5 so needed to straight it to get my first registered 90% score. Needless to say, I should never have looked at the card as I then missed one!

Finished on 44/50 88% so a new highest registered score but it wasn't over 100 birds so I won't get too excited :)

Now....back to work.

Crumbs Doug you really are shooting well with that borrowed gun, you should think about buying it ??

Says on honesberie web that it's  a 12 bird final. So don't see how they make that into a sportrap final. Would be nice to know what the format is going to be.

Jasper.

It’s been that way the last two years but I don’t think there were more than 5 in each class and category competing in those years.   We shall see on Sunday.

I've had a quick chat with them and I think it's going to follow the format of:

The 10 finalists from each class to be broken in to 2 groups of 5. Both groups will shoot the same layout with all shooters presented 12 targets through the layout in a sportrap style. At the end of the second groups shooting the scores will be reviewed and the overall winners across the 10 shooters will be known. In the event of any ties for places, shoot offs will start straight away before the next classification group starts their shoot off.

This has been done due to the larger number of shooters qualifying for the final this year compared to previous years.
