have to agree with mr Rowley  miroku mk38 trap  30 or 32 inch  grade 5   will do the business all round ,  ease the chokes a tad  and you have a quality gun  for a life time , excellent build quality  cosmetically beautiful  in my opinion  and no wear near 7k    its a win win situation ,   adj comb  fitted at doveridge  would complete the package  .
We always recommend an MK38 trap as a first choice clay gun for people wanting to take up the sport. The gun we mainly use for instruction is a 3800 trap as it's so user friendly.

Unfortunately for me though they are not quite long enough in the stock and due to the standard pad being so big there's no where to go by adding a larger pad. The adjustable version is longer but has a different grip which I am not as keen on plus I don't want an adjustable stock, the temptation to twiddle every time I have a bad day would be too much!

There are not many guns built to fit you, Max  ......................your not built normal

I shoot very little sporting or skeet, but if I do I use a trap gun, I've got nothing else! Miroku trap guns have been used by sporting shooters for decades, both modified and standard, you really cant go wrong with Miroku! If you have enough loose change, ok get a Perazzi or a k80.

 No Beretta's in this thread

A trap gun will do fine, as long as its set up to shoot where you want it to. Its all i have used for - well a long time. I even have my sporter set up the same as my trap guns. At the end of the day its all personnel preference. With 7k, i would look to spend around 5k, shop around, bargain hard and find something that suits.

With £7k to spend I would be looking for a B25 in good condition. Time less guns that will go up in value and superbly made.
Should get a good B25 B2g  at that price.   You should be able get one made in the last 10 years or so.

If it was me in your shoes i would have a good luck through the guns an narrow it down to 3 or 4 then go to a place like doveridge or other try before you buy places and have a good go with one the last thing you want to do is buy oa choosen gun and think its pony when you get out a couple of times with it  ( as you probaley no )  ?? but if i was you my choice it would be a krieghoff .and as some one said above would get a good coach like ed or ben and get it setup ??

To be fair, theres not much in the Beretta range that fall into the 7k price range. SO5s are 10k+ and just about everything else is less.

The term "caught between two stools " springs to mind.

So you are likely to be in the fertiliser, whichever way you turn !
none of that false engraving crap found on some guns, put the extra dosh towards some nice patterns, check out the Blaser custom shop!
Me too, in fact I just had the suede elbow patches on mine !

Well I never realized they what i though was such an innocuous question would illicit  such a passionate response!  Reminds me of the Linn/Naim V The Rest of World battles that  used to kick off regularly in  the early days of  Audio Newsgroups

“I don't think he's under the illusion that a 7k gun will hit more than a 2k gun, but if he wants to spend 7k on something nice good for him!”

Exactly right,  I know a £5 digital watch keeps better time than a Swiss  automatic, but I choose to use an IWC. It’s the same ethos here, I’m not in a  position to buy the pair of Peter Nelsons that I lust after, but to be honest I’ll get more pleasure looking and cleaning and using a “nice” gun and shooting  Teens/25   than I would using something more functional but  ugly and shooting twenties/25 IYSWIM.   Its not the number of clays I hit that I was worried about its was more any physical ramifications  of using the “wrong” type of gun.  ( I’ve been a game shooter 40 odd years and I can assure you that using a  6lb SbS on a 100 bird clay day is not the way forward!)

Any way that’s again for all the replies.

Martin.

PS:  i never believed all the flat earth audio rubbish, :)
