Just to round this thread off, April started with an unexpected demand from the Tax Man, so I've had to lower my sights so to speak. ( by 50%)

One thing I have decided though is my next gun will defiantly be a high rib trap gun, I've now borrowed a couple and shot a few rounds of DLT and I defiantly shot better,

I guess the last question is now  Beretta or Browning or AN Other.

DT10 trap. Loads of good uns for sub 3k go for one with BERETTA on action in high case the lower case were earlier production and some had issues.

If having a pretty gun is what you like then buy one that you like to look at.

I personally shy away from expensive guns with lovely wood when they are to be used on clays.... they get bumped and scratched in racks and hit by clays etc

I have a pair for mk60 high pheasant 32" grade 5 for game shooting and then a mk38 32" sporter grade 1 for clay shooting. I don't care if it gets hit by clays etc, I'd hate to be worried to use a gun.

Re: firing pin issues......

I've not have any issues with any of mine Miroku's? Mk60's are 2012 models and seen a good bit of use and my grade 1 is 2014 and shot 50k + with no issue.

And my comb on the sporter had to be lowered? As I was seeing way to much comb?

Any how for £7K you'll get a lovely gun
AND some change with which to buy a gunslip  ?

Ok.. Got a DT10 last week  and shot it for the first time last Sunday. I've used trap guns in the past including a DT10 trap with absolutely no issues. This one came with a sporting stock so as a change I thought I'd give it a go

Not only did my scores drop due to constant head lifting, when I did kerp my head down  it kicked me like a mule.. to the point my cheek was brused and sore.

Trap stock now fitted..everything good.

Sporting stocks are best in the bin. IMO.

We always recommend an MK38 trap as a first choice clay gun for people wanting to take up the sport. The gun we mainly use for instruction is a 3800 trap as it's so user friendly.

Unfortunately for me though they are not quite long enough in the stock and due to the standard pad being so big there's no where to go by adding a larger pad. The adjustable version is longer but has a different grip which I am not as keen on plus I don't want an adjustable stock, the temptation to twiddle every time I have a bad day would be too much!
Ah not just me that found the mk38 stock a tad short then, there must be some pad that does add just enough surely?

Well for me they are 1/2" short so it would be a humongous pad or an ebonite packer, neither doing much for the look of the gun so me being a gun tart it wouldn't do!

Right up to the point that they don't work anymore because the firing pins are made of cheese.  I'll just go and put on my tin hat now :bye:
I've got a chap who works in a tool shop and he turned me out a pair of pins 3 years ago.  Using a high grade of steel, my 'piece' hasn't missed a beat since.

I like the first post regarding the MK38 Grade 5. They are a beautiful gun and bullet proof....

I personally shoot 90% Sporting with the odd got at DT or Skeet and I use the MK38 32" Sporter. I've used many other makes which have cost far more and not enjoyed the experience anymore.

For £7k you'd pretty much get a Grade 5 mk38 trap & a grade 5 sporter I should think.

I have only just noticed this very rude and factually  incorrect post.

Miroku firing pins do suffer from spark eroded firing pin noses , as do many other brands.

Occasional servicing of a Miroku will do no harm , but sadly due to their inerrant reliability this is often not done.

Let us compare German rubbish in forty years time when they are as old and used as some of my Miroku's.

Forty years time ., I might still be around to show you my beautiful German gun, where will you be?

I note that the new edition to the Blaser camp has followed the example of the German motor industry. You buy the basic item and then add all of the bits later at a vastly inflated price. I just wish more drivers of Audi and BMW would get the 'indicator pack' !

I get enough sh*t during the day without someone pushing sales in my free time :???:

Ballbag...your a bit OTT with the "spam" pish!!!

...and Westley, your about as funny as AIDS!!! :baby:

Can you stop pushing a certain gun to buy !!!
if I'm not mistaken the forum believes in free speech as long as it's not abusive, racist etc. Other people praise their makes so why should I be any different,  If you don't want a certain brand then don't buy one.  If somebody ask's for opinions in an open forum I will give it, I've owned various makes of guns over the years, some have been better than others, I just happen to like my current gun very much, I don't work for for any gun importers just a normal shooter who enjoys his sport, so as my wife says, If you don't like it don't read it.  Plus I don't like your sh*tty comments either.

+1, there is a pleasure in getting a lovely gun out of the cabinet and knowing you are going to have fun with a beautiful piece of kit that's purpose designed for the job in hand.

I'm going to have a go at Olympic trap  at Bisley next week on one of these CPSA have-a-go sessions, let's see how the DSR does with that.. :)
I've shot Abt and Ut with my DSR and it worked a treat, good thing is if you miss them you can use the 34" barrels to smack them instead :hunter:
