I think Les was a bit clumsy (given the PC age we live in) and Liz slightly overreacted (understanderbly I suppose). I think the OP looked like an attack on certain women, but that was more an example. There are hideous sights portrayed by as many men. I know, because I have to work hard not to be one of them these days.. :) .

My wife and I were mesmerised recently while at a filling station. A 'very curvy' woman appeared wearing almost translucent peach spray-on leggings. Items in the pockets created an even weirder image. Not saying she SHOULDN'T dress like that but WHY? I have the right to wear an undersized t-shirt, but I know I would look like a stack of shrink-wrapped tyres, so I don't. It is merely genuinely intriguing to know what some folk feel they are achieving.

Wow and i mean wow.

Les posted about fashion or rather lack of it not about weight as such.

What ever next, will my posts about denim and the colour maroon be removed for causing offence to people with no fashion sense and colour blindness. Come on lighten up you don't see les reporting me for taking the urine out of his ridiculously expensive German over engineered K thing.

To clarify i saw nothing offensive in les post but then i am not a woman. Having met and conversed regularity with les i can assure everyone that he is a gentleman and would never ever knowingly cause offence.

Ps

Liz, not wishing to dig up an old argument but at least les apologized for his alleged offence i received no such thing when you openly accused me of something (i will not even type the word)

:fie:  What a bloody sick country we have become! can't say or write anything contriversal in case it offends one of our free loading

"immigrants" or coloured community or homosexuals or muslims etc.,  in Germany in the 30-40's under Hitler I could understand it? but in the UK a "free" country? free my ass!

As a fat lad I can blame it on the incredibly thick skin I must have grown.. ;) ;)
Same here mate, I'm about 6ft 2in and go about 16 stone.Ok the pies and beer probably do me no favours, but that's life. If I went to the pub, or even worse to Southern Counties, wearing a skin tight pair of strides and a t shirt that looked like it belonged to my eight year old grandson, I would be left in no doubt as to the suitability of my attire! And before anyone mentions the white gloves......I now have black ones, due to pressure from certain trap shooters who will remain nameless. Yes I also take it in the neck over my over priced and over engineered gun, but that's life, I did it and I take the flack!

.

Les your lucky I look like a 6 foot 2 inch 16 stone man who's been squashed by a lift.. :p

That is offensive to lifts, kindly remove your post.

Right that is that settled....

We are all fat bar stewards....

We don't really care...

Some have mirrors and try their best..

Some don't and should not go out in heat (or daylight)....

Men are fatter than women.....very true story...

But....

We STILL don't know 'who ate all the pies...?'

I have to confess. Sorry it was me.^_^

This is an emotive subject and unless you have truly been on the end of vile discriminatory behaviour of others you cannot begin to understand the pain it causes a fellow human being. Being slightly overweight is not comparable to being very very overweight. Most of us carry extra weight including me - I have the so called muffin top and I do not wish to display it and so do my best as Nic does to hide it. I also agree that wearing the correct size of clothes whatever your weight is preferable. The problem comes when all someone sees is your weight and nothing more as if you are sub-human and have nothing to offer. You literally feel as if you have lost your right to exist. Extremely large people are obviously very visible and so it is easy for "society" to attach negativity to that person because of their extreme weight. Inside that voluminous body is a brain and a heart, a soul and a character - look deeper than the rolls of fat and you may be surprised by what you see. Often extreme weight comes from a psychological problem not just because your "greedy" or "lazy" and when you get so big you often can't see how to change that - it's so ignorant to simply state you need to eat less. If only it were that easy.

Women and weight an age old problem but when the media, model agencies and joe public accept the below picture as oversized models you have to wonder what our expectations are.

For my two pennies I simply think Les was stating what lots of people think, too small an outfit is not attractive on any sex of any shape or size. I don't believe he was meaning to dictate to women what they should or should not wear - he just doesn't like seeing overly stretched Lycra and neither do I. Liz equally is battling a cause which is close to her heart and one she has battled for a long time if you care to read some of her blogs. I hope I am not speaking out of turn.

We do make light sometimes of things that deeply hurt others and that has nothing to do with free speech just need to think about how we use our free speech.

I can't even begin to address Shooting guru's grumbles it depresses me too much. :(

Neither of us should dare even try to  address his grumbles, it'd be far to much for our poor ickle female brains ;-)

Nice post sian we can always rely on you to level things with your usual diplomacy.

I vote sian for prime minister :)

In all seriousness what business is it of anyone, as to what someone else may or may not be wearing, or indeed what they think they might or might not be achieving in doing so?  More importantly what relevance has it got on this website?

If its offensive to your eyes or sensibilities then don't bloody look !!!

I must admit I agree with the don't look bit.

This is a forum after all....and everyone can rightfully have their own opinion on any topic....whether it is viewed by others as right or wrong....it is still their own opinion ...which ever side of the fence you sit.

If responses are not liked then there is the option to ignore the thread.
