Bob_P had his K80 cleaned and serviced at the European FITASC by the guy from R&D at Krieghoff - very impressed, they replaced nearly all of the moving parts & springs in the gun, whilst feeding us Krieghoff beer. I found it really educational - having never seen inside a gun before, I watched most of the process. Impressive stuff.

Personaly I dont like them, I dont like the balance they feel "too" negative to me and I dont like them aesthetically. But ........

Some people might not like the side plate on my EELL or the weight of my barrels, we all have different views and thank goodness we do. Furthermore the cost of a gun (or anything else for that matter) is irrelevent, you buy the best you can and it doesnt matter what anyone else has got as long as you enjoy what you have. I have shot just as good with a £500 parker hale as I have with a 12k beretta. I have also enjoyed driving my Mk1 escort bought for £125 all those years ago just as much as my current 30k car.

Anyway I digress so back to Krieghoff .......... why so much ? prob over engineered in order to justify the cost but many people love em and the DTL boys have certainly proved them for that particular discipline however you dont see many of them at "propper" trap comps. I wonder why......answers on a postcard..............

I mentioned to Alan Rhone that we don't see too many K80's at "proper trap" as you put it. Within 24 hrs I had an e mail from our county O/T champion who shoots a K80, he also sells them  . I shall be going to his shop soon to have a look, he has also offered to let me try a few, so I may as well have a go!

Well it would be nice to find that grail gun after all this time! .. I have spent fortunes trying to find it over the years, however an old shooting pal of mine reckons I already have it and I should stop buggering about! He may well be right, but I am still going to try the K80's

I think he could be right!

They say what your looking for is always 'right in front of you'

Enjoy trying out the K's though!

I wish someone had told me 20yrs ago to stop messing about, i would have saved 10s of thousands and would still have had my 2nd beretta 682 gold. Lovely gun never shot as well since .... Why oh why did i sell it

Looks as though we have been on the same quest. In one way I am luckier that you though, my 1991 3800 only went as far as my son, I sold it to him in 1999/2000 and eventually he agreed to sell it back to me a few months ago, BUT not before I had spent a mint trying to better it. I had guns that I shot about as well with as the 3800, in fact an MK38 and a DT10. The Perazzi's turned out to be a total disaster though, as they always are with me it would seem, which is a shame because I love MX8's! I won't part with the 3800, even if I do get another gun.

I wish you luck with your quest. Luckily my quest is over as after 26yrs i eventually realised that i can have a bad day with any gun so bought the one i aspired too and knuckle down. This is Defo the last gun i Will buy ... Honest luv

Hiya

First post here as have just signed up.

Similar situation as i have just upgraded to an MX8 (beautiful gun) from an MK38 Trap and have now passed the latter onto my 14 year old son. I've owned it from new (17 years) and can't bring myself to part with it. The main difference between them is the weight as the MX8 weighs a ton compared with the MK38 but the thing feels beatifully balanced. The stock is also much bigger in dimensions around the hand grip but it seems to fit me OK. I just need to pattern it to make sure I know where it puts the shot. I'm under no illusions with the Perazzi though and if I can't shot it as well as the Miroku it will have to go and I'll be having the Miroku back. Sorry Harry.

Can't comment on the K gun from a shooting point of view but I think the looks are somewhat challenging. Shouldn't matter I know but if I'm spending that kind of dough I want something to drool over as well as shoot well.

At the end of the day you pays your money and makes your choice!

I have had three MX8's, all fitted to me and all lovely guns, but could I get consistent with the buggers? NO. I had some good scores with MX8's but also a lot of totally rubbish ones. The vartiations in the scores were massive with the MX8's, not something that happened with a 3800, MK38 or even a DT10. I wish you good luck with your Perazzi they are great guns, but at least the Miroku will be there if it does all go wrong.

Is that another way of saying they look sh*te ......... :)

I don't think they look sh*te at all, looks like a proper gun to me. As I've said before on here, guns aren't supposed to be pretty :p

Krieghoffs get a lot of stick from cloth cap inverted snobs, but I don't listen to any of that old cobblers. I would love to own one if I could afford one, but I can't. I just like owning nice things. I know I would virtually have to learn to shoot again if I did switch, so I probably never will.

It is a question of taste, as hinted at previously. For instance, silly thing, but I can't stand those sort of full side-plates you get on EELLs etc, I think they look crap. Just a personal thing :.: I would never buy a gun with them.

The only thing that concerns me about expensive guns, is when I hear things like "they service it while I wait, and replaced all the moving parts". Why do all these moving parts need replacing? Or are they doing it "just in case"? They need to be careful with gestures like that, because the implication is that the parts don't last. :yell:

Well there you go then I rest my case (see my earlier post)

Its a good job we all have different taste's or the world would be a very boring place indeed.

PS- side plates on EELL are crap ......................... how very dare you sir :)

Suppose its a personal thig at the end of the day; if you like shooting a sideplated homos gun then who am I to argue ;-)

As it was my first post I thought I had better show some diplomacy

Its all a matter of personal choice. Personally I love the look of the MX8, Kemen, etc.

Never thought of guns as having a sexual orientation mind

PS: Thanks for the welcome.
