No, the Germans had a bloody good go at it though!!! My mothers farm cottage got flattened with the whole family in it, nobody killed, she was in a pram...very lucky to survive!!! Her oldest brother was a marine, fought the japs in the jungle, came home a very different man than the boy who left, would not speak of the horrors he seen when they liberated a P.O.W. camp, he HATTED all things Japanese until he died.

Many Thanks everone, time to get a few slabs and try them out with vehemence!  Can anybody tell me where I can get Clevers from, as I live in the Midlands?

Darkside, I can understand your uncles horror of the japanese.  I have met a few vets and it scarred them for life.  Wouldn't give anybody of asian origin the time of day.  So it was with a very adventurous heart I went to work in Japan for 7.5 years.  I came back a more educated man with a very deep love of the japanese and their culture.  War is a bastard and no mistake, driven by greedy politicians and fought by brothers.

And here we are all playing with guns........a little ironic don't you think?? :-D

Thanks again for the great and prompt replies!

HI again,

just been surfig the net and can't seem to find any Gamebore White Golds in the midlands?  Any stockists within reach of Nuneaton/Coventry anybody???

Cheers

I think that the country store at Shawbury stock game bore (knibbs)... why not try Solware in Tamworth for fiocchi?

Thanks for that.  I see that Solware stock both Express and Fiocchi, so a slab of Express Super comps and some Fiocchi Official Sporting in 28gram 8's (UK 7.5s) seem a good go.

Just spoke to Knibbs and they don't stock White Gold's.... :-(

Ha Ha!

In that case I shall say that you stated unequivocally, "...Sor says that Solware is the best supplier of cartridges, with the greatest level of customer service he has ever received from a reputable gun shop and informs me that Solware always delivers with a smile and healthy discount"!!!

I think that is a fair quote if I say so myself :nyam:

Well that's that then!  I am bloody armed to the teeth now.

I have 2 slabs of Black Gold, 1 x slab of Eley Superbs, 1 x slab of Fiocchi Official sporting, 1 x Slab of Fiocchi Golden trap, all 28 grams.

One thing is for sure I will frighten the living daylights out of the Little Black buggers even if I don't hit them!!!!

+1 - they must have been unbelievably evil from how troops came home scarred for life both mentally and physically

My Dad also felt the same about the Irish because of the IRA and how they behaved so would never buy anything from Ireland so as to deny them any support whatsoever.

try brett at brierley guns , brierley hill near to the merry hell shopping centre. he is a gamebore stockist and he shoots white golds i think.

Everyone at kibworth seems to be raving on about the hull superfasts?! Although they are 27 gram, but VERY fast...
Nasty. Superthumps.
And you probably feel that they are fast just due to the unsophisticated nasty thump to your shoulder.

Hull super fast, no thanks. Cheap for a reason. Punched like a mule for a round of 100. No thanks

Stick to the fiocchi smooth..............................................................just saying.

Well I went through 150 cartridges yesterday and from the off I was impressed with both Fiocchi cartridges for their smoothness, low recoil and dense breaks.  I shot my joint best of 26/30 with them.  I shot 5 different cartridges, Fiocchi OFFICAL Sporting 8.5's, and Official Gold trap's 7.5's, ELEY Superbs 7.5's, Black Golds 7.5's and Express power Blues.  All of these cartridges were smooth and hard hitting.  If I was to assess breaks then it would be unfair to say one was much better than the other, and to be honest, I am not that good yet!!!!.......but the OFFICIAL Gold Traps did seem to produce more dust on the clays than the others.  I would like to try some White Golds, but I don't have a local supplier here.  For that reason I know what I would like to shoot now, and given that I now have almost 2000 cartridges to get through, I shall have to wait!!!!  In order of preference of cartridge, regarding low recoil and breaks from my Mk38 1/2 chokes I like the Fiocchi's the best, with the other 3 cartridges pretty much of a muchness.  Recoil is a perception thing though, so I can only say what I like to shoot the most with.  In the meantime I am now stocked up to the hilt with good shells!!!

I know one thing though, after picking up and shooting another chaps gun with the same cartridges, all I can say is I am really pleased I put an ISIS green pad on my gun!!!!!
