chippy
Yes he did exactly the same thing in the 2010 Classic, put in a "B Class" 122. They shoved that one into AAA Class though, which hopefully they will again.....

A really good set of targets I thought, firm but fair shame I shot like a pleb. Yes it was a bit wind affected today but that's life. If it stays dry and the wind drops I think a 140/141 could well pop up tomorrow.

Really looking forward to tomorrow - wind is expected to be stronger, but less rain... which is a bonus.

The 130 was by ex sporting international and thoroughly nice bloke John Smith. I very much doubt he would have accepted a B class payout. He gave up competition shooting many years ago and apparently only comes out once a year. He's also a previous winner of this event!

Probably the fastest shot you will ever see.

He IS the nicest man you'll ever meet....one of Four Counties very own - until he took a long break for personal reasons. Still 'got it' though!

Looking at the scores on EJC site, it is very clear that Friday was a low scores day. Only 3 friday shooters in top 30 combined! The lottery of booking a shoot in advance.. I was about 50th out of 240 entries today, but combined scores of Thursday and Friday puts me 150th out of 480.

Tomorrow will be lower wind, dry and sunny. Must be worth at least 7 clays over today for the likes of me.. But I'm not bitter.. :)))

Well we shot the classic yesterday (Friday) very good testing shoot especially in that wind.

Was sqadded with martin myers,Graham stirzacker, and Welsh internationals O danny boy (off here) Gareth Grifiths and last years English open winner John kendall so a bit daunting at first. Started on the Blue course stand 10 simo quartering orange blaze,2 away to start, and thats how it pretty much continued dropping odd birds here and there, scores on blue for our squad graham stirzacker 63 me,o danny boy, and jonh kendall all on 58, martin myers 53,gareth griffiths 50.

so onto the Red course another good set up, but some of the white incomers out in the corn fields were a bit of a lottery to say the least, some of O danny boys came in that close they were like a frizbe,he didn,t know whether to catch them in his hand or shoot them, where as all mine stayed well out dropping like stones :p any way started off ok, but then half way round thought to myself i,m doing ok here, think that little thought killed me wheels came right off, couldn,t hit a thing for couple of stands, gave myself a bollocking and then straighted a couple of stands but the lapse in the middle, tiredness and lack of concentration dropping odd birds didn,t help my cause.

Scores on Red myers 65 (118 total) stirzacker 56 (119) Me 54 (112) O Danny boy 51 (109) Gareth 55 (105) John kendall 44 (102)

So all in all good shoot, some of the white targets in fields were also a bit of an eye test a they flickered accross skyline think black or orange would have ben better, an perhaps the full use of gun stand on Red course could have been a bit stiffer more like the one on the blue course. saying that talking after the shoot, some B and C class shooters stated that it was ok for AA, A shooters but to hard for them, another case of you can,t please everyone through the different classes, and i,m with clever recon the winning score should come today due to weather being slightly better, Edd perhaps

Hope I'm not jinxing the lad but I think Childerhouse could do well here.

I hear Chris hit a 66 on the blue this morning, so he will need at least a 72 on the red to beat Thursday and Friday scores. Big ask..

Nowt on facebook yet, Matt R must have had a shocker and is hanging from a tree somewhere :.:

Bit too rich for me :p and tbh it kind of crept up on me and I forgot about it

I did hear from Matt, but will let him tell it. I saw a guy in my village who went today. He confirms that this shoot was not an enjoyable affair for himself and other newcomer shooters..

Just back - loved it, great day out - scored 77 overall - well below my average (but I have been below my average for three/four weeks - not sure what is going on with my shooting) - need a shower and a steak before I compose thoughts...

Have some great photos of the prize giving and shoot off - Matt Hance held on with a 137

think thee and me made a good move here m8 getting some sour feedback from me shooting pals, but last year finished it for me  to much money, too many stds, time seems to have flattened it's image as the best major, mind I did enjoy the early ones...
