Well after a poor performance last Sunday I rediscovered my mojo at College Farm today. A great course there again. In fairness the nature of the targets suited me. Trouble is, it’s a three day event so I maybe won’t know if I’ve done enough until Friday evening.. ?

Fingers crossed, Will ?

Glad that Sunday was just a blip. AGL on Friday?

Cheers Doug, busy week (dodging work). Owls Lodge tomorrow, AGL Friday. (Your contact Mark is joining for his first Reg shoot).
It’s tough at the top hey? ?

Thank you for helping him out. We’ve tried to get to a Sunday shoot for months now but his work repeatedly gets in the way!

Shoot well ?

Owls Lodge was good today. Probably not their highest scoring shoot, with a sustained level of trickiness throughout. Big mess of one stand and a stupid missed pair on an easier one, so no great score for me today. Hit my average. If  I'm honest I was glad with how I fared on some stands that I walked onto without great confidence. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s won on 92.

I enjoyed it apart from the teal of course where I lost 7 of the 8!  The only stand I got upset with, remaining calm on the rest.  I was happy enough with my score though.  Selfishly  I wish shoots would not put on report teal.

I too hate the damned things and they were proper ones! It was my last stand and I had to really compose myself and do it all carefully, no attacking, which kills me. I was very pleased to hit five of the first six. Then got excited and missed last pair. ??

I managed 4th overall. It was tougher than I thought then.. Sian well shot. NO way the guy in B who won should be there..

Will,

What I think you were meant to say was " The chap who won B class shot exceptionally well and will soon be A or AA class "

Thank you Will.  Well done yourself.  Chris will no doubt be moving up, he is beyond usual B class now.  His average at the end of the period was 86.44%.  AA for him I think.

He was AA about 15 years ago! Nice guy, recovering form massively of late.

As I say, he was AA LONG ago

Sorry, I’m hogging this thread, but it’s not my fault shoots come along like busses and I’ve done three this week..

AGL today was a very different feel, with lots of stands in new areas, seemingly like they are practicing for the EO. It wasn’t an easy shoot at all, with only a few steady stands, but all good. I missed a stupid 2 on the first stand (pushed in front) and later missed another two simple ones, one with a flinch.. Other than that I did well enough and only a very long battue that quartered in caught me out 3 times. Finished on 92. A very good 96 was leading, impressive stuff.

I shot in a nice group including Sian on a good 80, plus a fella doing his first ever Reg shoot, doing a very decent 52.

First visit to Hornet today, Stew driving, for a change.

In a squad of 8, old codger & Stew plus  Emma Nelson, Paul Cooper, John Wells and others I rather poorly have forgot the name of.

I was first up and with kness aknocking a straight 8 ? others all seemed to be “on it” every stand, me I upped my game I feel, well I did until dropping 12/24 on last three stands, ended on a pleasing 75, first 7 something score with new gun so ? bunny. Stew 94, high gun when left Matt Hance 97

Well shot all. I got beaten then.. ?

Just back from AGL. Lovely weather and a very enjoyable course. They do seem to find the right balance of no crazy distance targets but very few gimme's. First half of the course I was just a bit sloppy with 6's and 7's but no horror stands.

Got to stand 9 and missed just one of the going away orange clays into the trees. Walked down to 10 and checked my card and saw I had been scored a 5. Walked back to 9 and questioned it. The ref said she called them and a bit annoyed with myself for not paying attention but when you smoke 7 clays you don't always think to worry about the ref scoring it right - especially at AGL where I find the standard of reffing brilliant. I even said I blitzed all of the 1st bird and she agreed but had still marked me down for a complete missed pair. Probably something to do with the big designer sunglasses she had on when the sun was already below tree line. Anyway long story short I ended up with the 5 and finished on 85. The two I lost would have been an 87 and PB at AGL. Luckily there was a few shooters in front of me at 10 so I had time to refocus as was pretty annoyed.

I did think I heard her call somebody wrongly when I was stood there too..

A very enjoyable shoot at AGL.  Three stands lost me ten targets, 3 driven and one of the second targets in frustration ?, three of the battue next door and another stand but can’t remember what the bird was now.  The other ten were just were your everyday got to miss something on a stand!   A first pair missed down the bottom on the first stand you got to - very annoying.  The company was very good also.  Then popped up to Andy Castles for a quick 150 Targets as I made good time getting back.
