Little outing to Weston Wood this morning for an informal potter around with friends.

Still using a borrowed gun and this was a first outing with prescription glasses.

There was some scrappiness which I will put down to a poor nights sleep but overall not a terrible 75 with all things considered.

Longridge today, out with chums, was as bit chilly, odd stiff breeze, and some fair old (ohh thats a good / tough bird(s)) target presentations there today will admit made me work hard to keep a 6 in front, yes a few top two inches errors too many, it was though a really enjoyable round, this despite a few too many no birds blighting one or two stands.

Shot with Stew Keen 82 & Bunter who imploded for a 57, my 64 was 2nd to a 75 in C when I left (about 60 cards of all classes in), Matt Turk 89 was winning though the superstars were still shooting / drinking tea so who knows.
Looks tough enough for a few cards to disappear again. ??

Who from this site is doing Valley View Bucks champs on Sunday? Brilliant ground, wasted with usual owners.. but this one run by Kevin Grey. I’ll be going about 11.30

Popped down on my little old todd to Owls, looked at forecast first mind so went late and booked in at 1.30, lucky to watch two very good shots shoot most (8) stands in front of me and I was all done shooting wise by 2.30.

Went 1-12, Owls is a ground were Ive previously shot horrendously so when a steady start was smashed by a 2/8 on a simo pair of crossers off his scissor lift this had the hallmarks of those dark dark times, was then lucky enough to follow Andy Simmonds ( who looked a very very good shot) & Nicky Grey (no slouch, herself being AA class) which both slowed me down and if Im blunt made me "pull my socks up" so to speak, so much so one did shoot the next 7 stands better than I've ever shot at Owls, didn't quite last till end as and the wheels came badly off on my last two stands, not helped by running out of cartridges- schoolboy that was, as it was I finished on 69, for this old codger thats a good score at Owls so with that, not getting wet, home within 4 hours of leaving Id say all in all I had a good day out.

Might well be at Gunsite sunday, not shot there for weeks

Went to Valley View for the first time. It was busy early doors. Got my card at 10:05 and was #83. A decent round of targets. Nothing extreme but only 1-2 gimme stands. Only questionable target was the edgy orange L-R on stand 6 on an orangey brown background. Many people were struggling to pick it up. I got 3 but also found it hard to spot.

I started poorly but managed to pick myself up and straight my last stand even after a 20 minute wait on it to finish on 80. After my recent scores that was most welcome.

Seemed to be a lot of midi’s - it felt like every other stand had one. 2 3/4 hrs to get around. Next time I will go later.

The ref on stand 12 was spot on. Calling misses, quickly calling no birds and always naming the next shooter.  Needless to say his stand ran smoothly with very little queueing so I thanked him for a job well done!

Gunsite for me today, great shoot with a good amount of targets that needed a fair chunk of lead, big LR looper that i saw a huge amount on once I'd finally managed to connect with it.didn't shoot the loopers or teal well today so that hurt my card, finished on 85 so not a disaster but just wasn't quite on the ball today.?

Valley View was a great course, a bit tricky in the wind. Some big queues in places so I walked the course twice! Missed a couple of silly ones, a few tough ones, but had a nightmare on an orange teal, which I never touched. Couldn’t make myself experiment enough to find it so ruined a potentially great card. Happy with 91 considering..

Tidy score will. I guess that was stand 8? The orange bird was going dead straight until 2 shooters before me. A few no birds so chap adjusted it and changed it quite a bit as now heading left. A few complaints but was left like that. Probably my best stand as straighted it and I was only one I saw getting all 4 orange.

Really? Yes it was a tricky left angle!

Went to Star Gun Club just did a 100 Practise then Went to Valley View hated the teal and the one P1Fanatic is talking about - simply cannot pick them up.  Shot badly,  We were there late but we still had to wait and walked backwards and forwards trying to find smaller queues.

Grange farm for me as nothing on local. A good round with 13 stands and not too wind affected. I shot 84 which is becoming my standard score at the moment. Three 84s and one 85 on my last four shoots at four different grounds.

That fast orange thing, I thought it looked horrible. Pushed the gun at the first two and smashed them, but maybe a bit front edge. Then did that stupid thing of trying for perfection and missed the last two, one behind, one in front. Grrr..

Enjoyed the change of a gun in my hands instead of spanners !!!...

Travelled to Valley View, 1st time in 8 or 9 years from memory, good to see the toilets havent changed !!!.......

Cracking piece of land, shame about the excessive use of Midis, obviously the rule of 30% max of non standard targets dont exist in Bucks........

Nice to see some old faces & a good journey from paradise in both directions, getting used to the new gun which is also good

It’s weird Phil, V V has always been midi city.

There is a posh loo, right at left end of car park but the 1972 hut still exists also. ?
