SatnNavs don't seem to like Bath. It's one of those places where you get a completely different route on the way back. But it's always going to be fiddly because there aren't really any practical routes to the M4 that completely avoid the built up areas and 20mph zones. Meadowcroft to M4 on a Sunday should be about 20-25 minutes.

Rich will set you right.
Hope so because 50 minutes with most of that travelling through Bath was too much in a tight space with Tony!!

If you keep to the West of Bath A4.A4174 takes you up to the M4 should be a bit better,My sat nav from Poole always wants to take me into the edge of Bath and back out even though its about 5 miles North of where i want to be!

I assume there was a good reason not to do four Counties and Weston instead Sian?
I would much rather shoot Meadowcroft with a proper range of different targets set by Sean than 4CTC which always seems to be at least 50% variations on skeet in/out the woods and a couple of Extreme Targets in the corner of the car park, would honestly be last on my list of registered shoots but if there is nothing else on......

Popped in to Coleys on Saturday morning to pick up my cash and cartridges from winning my class in their summer series.

Managed to see a lot of familiar faces which is always a bonus. One particular friendly face also kindly lent me his gun to use whilst I’m waiting for my new one to arrive! Incredibly grateful as it means I have a gun to shoot the Honesberie series final with on the 29th.

On Sunday I popped along to the Military College in Shrivenham to shoot with the defence clay club. Then joined a friend for a bit of practice at Barbury. Lovely day and a nice way to ease back in to Shooting after 4 weeks off.

Well done Doug. Don’t you want to borrow my gun again then? ? Thanks for the Honesberie cartridges, they were used with great success at College Farm last month. Nice and smooth I thought.

RIch it took 50 minutes to get from the shoot back onto the M4 and most of that going through Bath with Tony saying every 2 seconds I hate Bath, if I never see Bath again it will be too soon, I hate Bath, I don't like the dirty buildings, I hate Bath.and on and on!  So yes if you have a magic route from shoot back on to M4 that would be excellent x
Bath has some stunning buildings, trouble is they were designed, the stone quarried and hand worked into heavilly detailled finished pieces, and built into facades in an age well before horrid but essential motorcars, we are lucky to have such grand buildings, not at all blessed with a traffic system that will never ever cope with the visitors attracted to the city.

Yes best avoid ? will share route abd as Westward its 25-30 mins max

Oh very well shot over the weekend, hero status ??

Thanks Rich a good weekend although my shooting is like an erratic heartbeat week to week.  ?

Totally rude of me as I have not expressed my thanks to Phil Moss who once again gave us a nicely balanced shoot at Eriswell  with a range of interesting targets, something for us all and some tricky ones as well.  It all ran very well on the Saturday.  Thanks.

J18 of the M4, A46, Gorse lane, Freezinghill lane, Lansdown lane past the racecourse, cut through Weston. No need to go anywhere near Bath.

I’m glad you liked them; did you get a chance to pattern them at all?

Considering they share similar components to the White Gold it’s got a more subtle recoil characteristic (my perception). Not bad for £195 a thousand.

The gun I’ve been lent has been modified to match a 725’s characteristics and also fixed 3/8th chokes so it’s pretty much identical to the gun I was using; incredibly lucky doesn’t really cover it.

Shooting that Perazzi was a real experience, Will, thank you. The engineering and quality serious shines through and it’s a pleasure to handle. Sadly, it turns out that you actually have to have skill to shoot and not just a nice gun, as I firmly proved that day ?

Hi,

No I didn’t pattern sadly, but they broke clays well. And much nicer recoil than WG.

Any unfamiliar gun isn’t your friend, no matter what it is. Good luck with the new one.

Thank you Sian, glad you enjoyed the event...was extremely busy on the Sunday with 270+ shooters attending, all run like clockwork with the team at Eriswell.

I am looking forward to running more shoots there after the closure of Barrow Heath, so hope to see you there again very soon

First competition for over a month due to a combination of holiday and not having a gun.

Braved the winds and went over to Westfield. Quiet car park which meant a quick round which was a good thing in the wind!

Managed to card 83 which eclipsed my previous best score at the ground of 74.

HG was ‘only’ 92 when I left so interested to see what the final scores look like!

Horne for me and I didn't shoot well in the wind.  Finished on a 64.  Stand 2 and the platform were the low points, with lots of other mediocre bits as well.  Buttoners didn't help me today either.  One decided to release before I'd called and the other waited about 3 seconds and I'd lifted my head.  Stupidly I just shot, I should have stopped and made them go again.

Westfield for me,superb balance of targets,i faded a bit towards the end, started hanging on to the shot a bit,a few stands where it was so windy you couldn't hold the gun still to start with!!same for everybody tho, finished on 86 in A,usual story, kicking myself for the sloppy mistakes.great fun and an excellent shoot.
