I did the Red today and joined a small number of people who found it worse than the blue. I was terrible on the first few stands, got so cross had to sit alone for a while. This level of shoot sure pushed most of my squad to the edge at some point. A rubbish 70, where I hoped for 80+. Never mind. I dropped seven in the last two stands, but so did RF so it wasn’t a doddle.

Verdict on whole event? Too tough all round. Maybe these world champs should be in one respect but because they want 1200 shooters of average ability to prop up the top 300, the course could be easier. After all, there is a super final to sort out the top few.. One thing I have said for years is DON’T register these events. Then at least we can shoot it with a wry smile and forget the effect on our averages.
I shot red worse than blue but the reality is I found them the same level.  I obviously don’t suit those type of targets and I actually got excited to see the driven can you believe that!!  Fitasc tomorrow and then I’m done.  On the point of averages I am finally over it and I don’t care any more.  Freedom.

I shot red course slightly better than blue and blanked stand 13!  Got 2 of the monsters on stand 14 though first barrel which I was pleased with, target 1 and the blue teal.

All I can say for those going to shoot it, is just try to enjoy the day out and do not beat yourself up too much if you don’t get anywhere near your average, cracking weather this week and lots of nice people milling around and good trade stands etc.

"On the point of averages I am finally over it and I don’t care any more" so glad to hear it,i am sure you will enjoy your shooting more now!

Only time i have ever looked is when its the end of a period to see if i have gone down, otherwise i couldn't GAF

I shot a lower score on Red Course but by dropping 11 over the last two stands. Overall I think they were similar difficulty. I think it’s a good challenge and I had a good time both days.

The shooters village was well done with all the eateries, bar and big screen. It makes me laugh when folks on FB complain about the entry fee as their local shoot costs £35 for a 100 birder.

I agree with Will that doing it as a non reg shoot would help reduce the pain but I doubt they will bother when they know they will easily sell every peg.

I would be up for another crack in 2 years time.

"they know they will easily sell every peg."

Unsold tues/wed 91 thur/fri 25 sat/sun 13

So that is roughly 10% unsold...

I would wager it will be higher next time.

So no scores from today, live scoring hasn't worked since yesterday how many years have we been waiting for this......i despair,i so want to have something positive to say apart from its a lovely place to shoot!

I have two positives, the hedge was cut (no use to me) but all the other midgets going through won’t wedge their guns in it 😂 and on the platform for the Fitasc no 3 layout a pallet was provided so that  I could see over to actually shoot some.  It was unfortunately my worst layout as I did struggle a bit with picking things up but I was grateful that My gun was unhindered by the bar.

AGL today. A very pleasant shoot in the continuing nice weather. Mainly it was pretty steady, with only two or three tougher stands, or at least that’s how it felt after the World champs at EJC. I missed 5 clays behind which I think was from caution after having done some severe targets earlier in the week.. Finished on 93 but that won’t be enough. Very enjoyable morning though.

Also AGL. Enjoyed it, probably because I shot well and finished with a new PB of 87. Nice birthday present for me. If only I wasn't so piss-poor at driven targets - missed 5 of them, they weren't particularly tough ones.

AGL for me, driven my downfall too but today was about having a laugh with a couple of friends and shooting some clays just for the heck of it and that was exactly what I did.  78 I think possibly a few more out there but I really didn’t want to have to “try” today.

Just looked on the CPSA website. the cheeky bar-stewards have me down as being a veteran!  As if I wasn't already depressed enough.
It gets worse, you will now start getting Saga brochures, funeral plans, life insurance , mobility brochures all coming through the door now! Well done on your PB 👏

Having not shot a reg for over a month due to illness & a much needed and wonderful holiday one is off to Coleys this pm, the 🌞 may well in evidence something Ive not seen there at the previous Coleys outings, only 🙁 being I appear to have the most runniest of noses, a regular side-affect whenever Ive flown, might see one two or more of you

Well the weekend has come and gone, as has my entry money for the World Sporting and Prelim events that I paid for but could not attend due to injury.

Managed to hobble around Oakedge on Sunday and it reminded me what a fantastic setting it is. I'm really excited to shoot the open there later this year!

I'll be at Ian Coley's this PM for the regular fixture. Then a little trip down to Gloucester Skeet Club for the Sportrap.

Coleys, as before a good month since last a reg clay taken on, thankfully a covering of cloud made the afternoon quite pleasant as the earlier squad all looked rather frazzled. Coleys had decided to mix up our pre/season block booked squad so one had a chance ti meet / make some new chums, well Matt Turk plus two pleasant west side of Severn gentlemen. One was first up, first stand simo loopers, oh joy, despite the obvious cobwebs and rustiness aplenty one felt that Id shot as well if not better than Id expcted me too, so gor me a good afternon out. Young Sam Usher 90 HG 👏

Am unsure as to this runny nose streaming eyes banging head is a nasty cold or hay fever its still well and truly annoying me so its the straw to break any thoughts of EJC today

I took half day to go to EJC  but I am sitting at home thinking I don’t want to go, I can’t be bothered in this heat and I’ve got Beretta World tomorrow.

just as well Jane just called me to say horrendous traffic on M40 coming from London to EJC so that has made my mind up.

Left at 7 this morning and made Churchill's ground at 10.30 😒  I can only describe the state of the M25 as a disgrace, literally start/stop most of what should have taken only 2 hours and it's unclear why there even are so many separate congested parts ! Also got caught in a 50 minute gridlock between the Esso garage and the M40 on the trip back, absolute farce.

The shoot itself was rather good if a little stiff, I actually shot some of the harder stands really well too and hand on heart only missed two "silly" birds so 84  won't, I feel tell the full story. Yet again I am puzzled as to why course designers decide to throw two tough birds on the same stand 😶  stand 10 I think where a fast R/L fairly distant crosser which was also dipping into the ground was followed by a really fast small window L/R rabbit, both difficult to see the rabbit in particular was time and again given as pair again when people were unable to even see it in time, dunno if I agree with that in a reg comp, I'm all for a bit of common sense leniency but feel that this should have been set up in a more sensible way to start with. Several people failed to get a shot off in time and some fired into the bank in puzzled desperation ! 94 from Argun Ismet was leading when I left which was very very good shooting 😎 and should hold unless a couple of super stars turn up.
