If the high gun is in the low 90s  its a good shoot
Respectfully . Applying your theory to a recent shoot. HG 95. By former world champion. No other AAA superstar broke 86. . There were rumblings from their previous shoot that it was too hard. ( Not from me) their attendance was down this week with only 81 entries. Then they gone stupid . Set it harder than last . Bet they don't get more than 50 at their next.

Looking at it, Honesberie. Big Ben with a 95.

In all fairness to the numbers attending this weekend, there was quite a lot of shoots on.

I agree feast or famine with shoots recently, some weekends practically nothing and then suddenly everything.

So it would seem that there was a lot of tough shoots about this week. Looks like all our course setters have world champs fever. Come on guys . Back to normal for next week????

Jasper
Perhaps this is the new "normal" as it seems everyone wants things toughened up!

Looking at the results at least HG at Honesberie was 95. High gun at Grange Farm was 89 😯

I didn't attend either so can't comment on the targets.

Gunsite looked normal. Perhaps even a bit easy. Horne similar

Honesberie may be missing the influence of Julian, who left a few months back.

You must be loving the 18 hours daylight facilitating 5 shoots per day. 😬

I hate this weather, too hot for me but my addiction ensures I will still be out there shooting.  I am dreaming of 18/20 degrees and Tony is dreaming of -5 degrees.

I wouldn't have thought it was Honesberie, as a C class shooter I thought it was about right. I shot my current average, even with some silly mistakes.

Only going on the scores quoted....95 HG, and next best super stars 86. that appears to be Honesberie. I never shot it so can't comment on the targets. Just my observations and reply to an earlier post on here of "where was this ?" I may be off the mark but the results fit.

Everyone has an opinion and obviously Jasper found it to be challenging, a bit on the tough side.

I also didn’t shoot it, but yes it has to be Honesberie.

Sometimes a shoot can score normally in C class if the toughest 30 or so targets that they were going to miss regardless got a bit tougher. It will affect the A class types who expect to hit half of those, but found them a stretch too far.

First time at gunfire,  scorers asking why so quiet.
I rolled up about 11.20 and the parking was fairly full. Sean said it had been busy 1st thing but easing off. Total reg entries were 151 plus a handful of un-reg and that seems about right given all the other shoots and of course a few lightweights who stayed home because the temperature was over 20 degrees. 😉

Gunsite always gets a decent turnout because Sean is well liked and as one of the best shots this country has ever produced he sets targets that will find you out if your technique isn't up to scratch.

I really like Gunsite, but have avoided it for 2 years now because it has always been 300 entries and bad to get round, which adds to a longish car journey. A victim of its own success, partly because the targets are good without being too punishing for the masses.

Have to say I also love Gunsite and Shaun but we avoid during the better weathered months because you can be there forever and we do like to do two shoots on a Sunday.  We go back in the winter when some just don't come out to play.

I know what you mean. The ground area is fairly small and has a pinch point but Sean has a few more stand positions now which helps. It's a superb ground for Fitasc though. Sean is steadily improving the facilities though and the catering in particular is much better now.

Didnt think Gunsite was neither “easy” nor “hard” some do seem to shoot very well there, although yesterdays scores showing some good shots did struggle, and yes the atvtimrs extreme heat may well have been a factor. Oh in C take the Aussie sandbaggers out the scores are not I think at all outrageous, see they did similar at Horne?

Martin Myers 97 at Gunsite,  but less face it he is one of the very few super-dooper stars.

Listen guys this isn't really about this shoot and that. Its was about chippys post regarding HG being low 90's etc to which I applied his theory to a recent shoot. Doesn't really matter about the who's and whys .Was  just trying to say that HG is not really a good way to judge a shoot.  The shoots will do what they think is right and we will give our cash to the ones that fit our needs. Simples.

Jasper.

82 at eriswell and 84 at barrowheath both above my average but I didn't shoot well at either. One of the hottest days I have ever shot on. I love this weather.

65 at eriswell and 70 at barrow, both below my average.  Both shoots I had two particularly poor stands and the usual lots of one and two aways.  First time I've shot Registered comps at either of these grounds.  Shame that they are such a long journey, I'd love to shoot both of them again.

It was too bloody hot.

Bywell on Saturday for the English Open Sport Trap. 150 targets over six layouts. Great to see this comp in the North East. I shot 131 which I was really pleased with.

High Gun was Paul Foster on 149. John Bidwell made the trip up and finished on 144.

Well done to Bywell for hosting the event, it ran like clockwork.
