Longridge, car park looked busy at 10am, lots if new faces and some not seen for a good while, by chance most the others in my BO squad were also early birds, lucky for me the intros were friendly. Shot course with Stew Keen peaks and troughs for us both, me I made mistakes aplenty & had two mares with l-r simos which dropped me 15/18 targets, that said a fair few better shots than I had struggled, so all in context Im telling my positive self.

Saw some very good AAA & AA shooters in the stands, oh how they do make it a different game, at times its a joy just to watch these shots, lord knows what an earth one or two of them saw following me today.

Nick Portlock 92 when leaving at 1, lots of superstars still to finish though

Roll on wednesday, I have a trigger to pull

Southdown for me today, sporting and Sportrap and a go on the pool shoot.  Overcast but the rain stayed away.  Smashed my driven today and taken as driven.  Not the hardest shoots I’ve done but still had to concentrate to get them.  Lost a target on the Sportrap because I had forgotten to replace the cartridge 😱. Annoyed with myself.  85 Sportrap and 87 Sporting.  Mr Hoskins just hobbled around with a twitchy trigger finger - no shooting for him yet.

Gattom Bottom this morning.  Horrible start, managed to drop 5 on a simple following pair.  Pretty sure I was misreading it as quartering more than it was and going down the right as a result.  Managed to dig in and finished on a 76, straighting stands 10, 11 and 12 helped.

Enjoyable morning out with more Doug ...........

More Air miles than a 747

Happy to have drilled out a 90 at Longridge today after dropping 6 on two stands!

Looking forward to seeing the results

Eriswell Lodge for the Premier League which I enjoyed - 12 stands.   Just a bit of rain at the end.  Three bad stands for me where of the 26 clays on offer I missed 16 of them!  One stand sim midi and standard which a board blocked me seeing them come and just couldn’t get my timing right so 2/10.  The other two stands 4/8 for both which just left 8 missed as I went round.  Three straights 26/26. The odd ones annoy me more because they are  odd ones or drop a last pair as I did today and have no idea why.   Did manage 3 of 4 teal which would normally throw me as it was not close and I struggle with those but missed the first and got the rest.
Wasn't a nice sim pair, tried to take the 70mm as fast as I could and it needed a bit, the standard needed less as it had slowed up but was edgey and falling away, happy with 7/10.

Is Tony ok, see him hobbling?

Well done, it kept taking me by surprise 😂.  He had a belly button hernia op on Thursday so a bit sore.

It was a good shoot at Longridge yesterday! I felt rustier than the titanic after a month off shooting. It started coming back together towards the end. Only one stand where I was unable to find a target even with 5 attempts at it.  Ended up on 75/100 which i'm not upset about considering the break.

Always a pleasure to shoot with Mr. Turk. Makes the targets look easy which imparts confidence.

Next shoot will be the Open on Saturday!

I should have gone to Southdown to assist my dwindling average. 33 shooters hit 90 or more! Instead I went to a very tricky shoot at Horne and certainly didn’t hit 90. 😀

I always shoot poorly at Southdown.  Wish I'd gone to boost my confidence there.  I didn't think that Horne was that bad, usually fiddly stuff not needing lead.

Exactly! Bloody fiddly. That green crosser on stand 1 needed as much as I’ve ever used at Horne though.

I kept stretching it out, didn't get on it once.  Then dropping 5 on Stand 2, I thought I was in for a terrible score, was happy to pull it back to 3 over average to be honest.

It was deceptive. I watched Steve Clark (who went on to hit 97 at southdown) only hit it once properly. Tiny chip off his last one too I think.

I gave it 3 feet, missed it. Then a bit more plus a bit more speed, hit it but not well. Tried that again I thought, missed. Just opened out to a full 5 feet on last one and smashed it.

32 to be precise but all AAA, AA and some good A's.  I scored well for me on a pleasant course but it was not all easy, in fact I had to concentrate to get my score and I know I did because I was knackered afterwards.

I think I may have started just behind and then ended up in front by the last two pairs.  I was giving it loads with a lot of gun speed by the last one.

You did well Sian!

I’m sure Southdown was a good course with all the normal tests, but hittable if you are doing well. Horne just robs you with edgey fiddly targets that are often just stopping and dropping as you get there. Unforgiving. Give me a 50 yard open face crosser over a 15 yard edgey stalling thing any day.. All shooters that I saw who did both shoots did better at Southdown. Shame it’s twice as far for me.

Yes I know I do visit Horne.  It is one of those shoots that everyone complains about but actually we all need to be able to shoot those targets.

I always reckon it’s a good place to try out a new gun, or a comb adjustment etc.

I just wish that they would stop with the daft colour selections.  A low yellow edgy incomer against a yellow / green background and a low edgy orange crosser against a yellow background were both on display yesterday.  Both were a struggle to see, but the orange crosser was a real pain, I couldn't pick it up sharply until it was in front of me whereas if it had been black I would have seen it 15 yards sooner.

I totally agree with the colour issue.  I did say a while ago I would only go there when I needed to use it as a second shoot because the colours were just becoming a real issue for me.
