A very windy AGL today. A good firm course I thought, 91 HG.  Very windy so I suspect some targets may not have presented as intended. I met Woody and Bebo then hit 1/8 on next stand. Whoops!! Possibly blaming new prescription leading me astray. Misread it anyway. Scraped an 80 but damage was done. Ho hum.

Good to see you today Will. I thought it was a good round. Some different targets, especially a big incomer off the tower, not something you'd see often.

I had a good day today, finished on 82. Really need to stop thinking about scores. Last stand knew I had to hit 4 to get a score starting with 8. Smashed first two pairs then got complacent and dropped two easy rabbits. Would have been second in B if I hadn't done that.

AGL for me very blowy but I was glad to be out.  Lost the plot on stand 6 temper got the better of me so a write off there.  Finished on 80.

AGL.  Not troubling the score boards yet but nice to put another face to the name and meet Will. I got a 6 where he got a 1, and got a straight where bebo missed her bunnies. So i'm the champion.  Oh no. 56.  Bang on Average.

Pleased to get a few straights on 1, 12, and 14, but there is so much more i need to learn/practise.  However.....when I learn to shoot that low stuff....you guys watch out.

Popped into Coleys this am, a meet with Stew and after a gossip & tea out for a very pleasant couple of hours, he wanted to be rid of some Clever fibres and after using a dozen or so I know why, my 30” P weighs in at 8lb8oz and even with just the “as supplied buttpad” Ive used Fiocchi by the 1000 and numerous carts from other brands without really noticing recoil, these Clevers however kicked me like the proverbial mule, most unpleasant I found. Aware we all experience recoil differently, these Clevers wont be getting a second chance with me Im afraid. After getting rid we used some 24g Official Sporting & ones prefered 28g F3s which were both most easy on the old torso. Saw lots of chums on the ground, drank lots of tea and chatted very long and very deep (right🤣) it was all in all a good day out on the clay.

Just finished my shoot at Gatton Bottom. 76 total. I’m very pleased with the improvement from when I shot here two weeks ago in my first reg with 64.

If im honest I dropped some targets (probably 5-6) today through nothing but mental laziness, but it’s all learning.

Cant wait to get significant lead down the barrels in 2019.

Amazing work! B class now! I also went. Terrible journey with m25 buggered at J11

Tricky one, Richard King leading on 93 at 1.30. Still finding my way with new specs. 86. Shot some of it well and dropped some close soppy ones (that looked closer than they were with new prescription).

Gatton Bottom for me as well.  Couldn't get on the crosser on Stand 1.  Pretty sure I was misreading the speed of it and wasn't giving it enough.  Totally screwed up the sim pair in the middle of the field - 7 away.  Other than that it was just dropping the odd one or two elsewhere.  Finished on 74, but with the targets that were on it should have been closer to 80.

That white thing on stand 1 was similar to a green one they put on a while back and I found it needed a lot. Hit it first shot, then missed next two being a bit careful, added more and hit last one well. A good 6 feet in my language.

Definitely behind it then. I just don't expect to put that much lead on targets at Horne, I'm usually having to tell myself to rein it in.

Me too, but still measured out a 3.5” gap (under)
Exactly as I see it. Lead is lead whether it is to the side of a crosser or above a teal or below a dropper it's all lead in front of a clays direction of travel. I hear so many shooters saying they shot 3 foot in front and 2 foot below a certain clay, that seems a complicated way to measure lead.

Boxing Day Open at Longridge 10st of 10, met up with tubby bro whod Id not seen for a good while, we shot course 1-2 then 5-8 10-9 then 4-3 so bit of stand hopping, had sluggish start & dreadful on rabbit stand, missed 5 quick low driven as well so not too good on a couple of stands, did though pick up towards end on some targets one felt would destroy my card so all in all 😊 day. Bro (B class) too family honours, 95 was winning, it was only 90+ score when left. Saw lots of chums shook lots of hands, even a couple of cheek pecks so a good social day too.

Discussed this the other day and I can only gauge lead in terms of inches around the target so a very 2d way of looking at it but it does make it uniform to describe lead distances. Conversely, I can't see how (or why!) one does it in feet, etc. from the clay as you have to gauge the distance it is away from you too so two identical birds at 30 and 50 feet distance will obviously have differing lead which measure utterly dependant on depth perception due to it being THREE dimensional.

Guess my brain works very literally.

Imagine you have a three foot long stick. Looking at it when it’s 10 yards away or 40 yards away I can still see it’s 3 feet long. But yes, we all have our own ways of seeing things. As long as it’s consistent, it’s fine. Although I think seeing lead in terms of inches from the actual muzzle is awkward as it may make you actually focus on the gun, which isn’t ideal.
