Just looked at the weather forecast for Friday.  That and the fact that I am swamped with work at the moment means that AGL is looking unlikely for me.

I have the morning off work and need to be back for 2pm. So aiming to get to AGL for first cards and hoping ita not crazy busy with everyone want to shoot the last registered before the English Open. I see they have finally stopped free practice on reg comp days. That should help.
could have done with that for good Friday.

Flexible diary and managed to blag a place on the Sportrap at Barbury, sunny, no rain when I shot though it was very blowy at times, last one they had it was soooo cooold I froze, fingrrs - no feeling, due to cancellations just four of us in squad, Moi, Chris Morgan, Dean Gibbs & Glen Goldthone, think L1 suffered most from the big gusts, bit intermittent they were, me, I had a much better day than those of late, a recent session with a good coach highlighted a significant flaw which I now recognise and will work through, ended on 72 which is a big 😊 day, Mark Fletcher & MrFaulds 89 as HG when I left, cant think Ive ever been within >20 of MrFaulds so double 😊

Its the first of a summer series, will try & shoot most of them.

Managed to give myself the afternoon off to sneak along to Oxfordshire Shooting Schools 50bird reg and 25 sportrap.shot in a very friendly little squad with a few friends managed 24/25 on the sportrap and 47/50 on sporting.Dean Gibbs shot straight on sportrap.Tim Thornett who i shot around with shot very well for 48/50,a very pleasant afternoon with a great bunch of people.👍

👏 shot, this place has a lovely clubhouse, well worth a visit,

Cheers Rich.yes all very civilised there,it was nice to whizz around and shoot a bitesize reg.👍

Cracking round of fairly hard clays at Owls Lodge, the wind which seems to be a feature at this ground didn't help either. I made a terrible mess of the rabbits thrown as a pair which I'd mentally assumed I'd near enough straight 😜 by missing 7 of them 😂, just couldn't believe my eyes as I kept shooting at them too !! Luckily shot most of the other stands well including all the various Teal which I smacked hard for 81.

ps. This is proving to be a very popular mid week reg so get yours booked early as I had to keep pestering RF to let me know if there'd been a cancellation.

Owls for me too, I smashed the bunnies but my second stand the teal things on report I only got one which filled me with joy NOT.  stand 4 last pair with that cheeky battue missed the last one to the wind, it dived and I sailed on by 😂.   Finished on 70 used Lola so we are still reacquainting ourselves.  Good to see you Hammie.

Daft question from someone new to sporting...

What does it mean when a Reg shoot says 'squadded'? I get that the squad is the small group you move from stand to stand with. I've only shot one reg shoot, and I ended up teaming up with a guy I got talking to in the car park and a couple of people he loosely knew.

How is that different from one which says, for example, 'telephone entry and squadded'. (I obviously get the telephone entry bit). Does it mean the shoot allocate you a squad and a time?

Thanks, and I know this seems a strange thing to ask,, but as I say, I'm new to sporting and these things aren't always obvious!

Exactly that. Certain number of squads per start time. You shoot in the same group and ref comes with you to trap and score. Means the ground doesnt have to have a ref for every stand but also means a max number of shooters. The big comps use this format to keep the course flowing (assuming no breakdowns).

The one caveat i would make to that is that at big shoots Worlds,Masters,Classic, etc even though squadded there will be a ref on every stand and your squad will carry the card with them..

Anyone with any experience of Orston? I've never shot there, but a couple of people have mentioned it to me... Ta!
Go regular, or used to, the little leader is lacking in customer relations and a total numpty with clays thru  the sun. We avoid now in the winter but will back regular as the sun gets higher on the horizon.

Yeah, we carried the cards and there was a ref on every stand...

Ambled down to Royal Berkshire with ye olde side by side this afternoon.felt fairly confident if I was in reasonable form i could possibly improve on my over and score of 84+6,which i don’t think was quite good enough for a place in the final.started off well enough and maintained a steady pace around the course,16 on compak and 16 on the grouse, nothing amazing but steady.i finished on 85+6 which I’m happy with, fumbling for back trigger did cost me a couple but no major disasters.not sure if i’ll make the final with that but hopefully stands a chance in the side by side class fingers crossed.🤞

Shot the Southdown Grand Masters this afternoon.

Really enjoyable shoot, walked away with a smile on my face which is how it should be.  Great targets, and good use of the terrain by Bob the course setter.

I finished on 100/120 which was ok, but I was lucky enough to be on the same squad as Richard Faulds who shot an effortless 119/120.

Gunsite for me today, the most sloppy round of clays I’ve shot in a while,no excuses just very poor shooting,in fact i think I’d have probably shot better with my side by side!a great set of targets from Sean with plenty of variation.finished on a lack lustre 82.

Sad not to make it to Valley View for the SE England champs. Rare opportunity to shoot registered there, but I knew my jet lag would have made me look very poor.. glad at least to end the grading period with my highest average yet..

Well done Will. I think I have managed to sandbag it down in one discipline ready for the worlds.
