It's an unnecessary extra step. 12 stands every weekend for a year and you will undo that buckle more than 600 times. You have to do it up the same number. What's wrong with a buckle?

I love buckles. I've had many a zip break down over the years but a buckle has never broken on me. On a decent leather gunslip the zip will be your weak point and let you down first. It's an unnecessary extra step. 12 stands every weekend for a year and you will undo that buckle more than 600 times. Thanks, good tip. I've just located that.I have one with the top flap, and you don't need to undo it when taking your gun in and out. just the side zip.
I know Guardian leather slips come without a flap if you really don't want one though. think its the "Guardian Luxian"
It does stop the gun from falling out though. I wont use slips that only have a zip as they burst and the gun falls to the floor as has happened twice to me. Mine has a buckle at the top to stop the zip undoing itself and one on the top flap. They are worth having for when you transport the gun in the slip, you can then just not do the buckle up while on the shooting ground if that is your wish. It's an unnecessary extra step. 12 stands every weekend for a year and you will undo that buckle more than 600 times. How did that happen? Were you holding the slip upside down?It does stop the gun from falling out though. I wont use slips that only have a zip as they burst and the gun falls to the floor as has happened twice to me.
With the gun in the slip, the stock is the most bulky part. When you put it over your shoulder it puts pressure on the zip. When the teeth of the zip get worn they burst and out pops the gun.How did that happen? Were you holding the slip upside down?
How does the stock put pressure? Over your shoulder, the stock weight rests away from the zip (unless you have the gun upside down)With the gun in the slip, the stock is the most bulky part. strap over shoulder, shoulder pushes stock backwards against zip.How does the stock put pressure? Over your shoulder, the stock weight rests away from the zip (unless you have the gun upside down)
No, still don't get it. My zip faces forward, but not pressed against anything. Anyway.. Not really a conversation worth our time.strap over shoulder, shoulder pushes stock backwards against zip.
My strap is on the opposite edge to the zip so faces backwards. No, still don't get it. My zip faces forward, but not pressed against anything. Anyway.. Not really a conversation worth our time.
You can get the Croots slips with/without handles and with/without buckles and zips. Personalise to what you require, including your initails embossed on them.Just noticed you cant see any handles on the picture on the Croots slip, but they are there as well as the shoulder strap
Ah.. Apologies. HANDLES on zip side, but yes, strap on other side.. Still, never had the zip fail except due to snagging and wear (not pressure). My strap is on the opposite edge to the zip so faces backwards.
Good / bad product design is always worth discussing
Why not try one of the slips with legs attached. No need to fold it, it just stand there on its own!!!And I hate leather slips because they are so heavy and don't fold easily (placed on my bag while shooting).
Got one too! Good in the right circumstances, when lots of waiting around and or muddy. I rarely put my gun naked in a stand as have had lots of damage from clay shatter over the yearsWhy not try one of the slips with legs attached. No need to fold it, it just stand there on its own!!!
