Charlie I think this has been done but I am not quite sure if the system is reliable and also I think you need to queue up to shoot from the same point, so not quite the ideal. Someone correct me if I am wrong about this.

edit

what this means is the machine is programmed to throw 15 different angle and trajectories required for OT but only from one point only. I think it would be very difficult to get all the 15 angles so the three at each of the five points would be correct. That is how I understood the rig at least :) or the trap would have to traverse a lot to get in position which may lead to reliability issues ?

As far as i am concerned its harder because of the speed. Maybe because the old rules allowed greater plus minus most grounds set to minus as in 70 now there is little tolerance they are at 75+ whatever the reason the stats don't lie as the cut off point is now lower and it only happened since the last change very close now to OT cut off. Also the shooters don't lie and most if not all that i have spoken to are finding it harder. Also i think the fact that most now are shot from a trench layout is making a huge difference due to very wide exit of target.

Anyway i am now bored with discussing, i have said everything have to say on the subject so i am done.

I am preparing to be told otherwise but for the price of a Krieghoff this is not going to be very reliable. I worked in big pharma research where the automated machines cost millions and they were not reliable so I am somewhat surprised that a company can do one for £12k that will be reliable but you live and learn! I must admit the tolerances on our machines were very much greater but the same principals apply... and who wants to queue in a competition?

Not me. But I wouldn't mind one at the end of the garden for practice!!

I'd like to see the stats to prove the statement.
ok one more then I am done.

looking back at stats on cpsa back as far as 2010 the cut offs for A and B average out at 3% more than they are now, yes they have always varied year on year but only by 1% ish. Doesnt sound a lot but nesrly a target per line, has to tell us something ?

when exactly did the new fangled abt first start? I cant seem to remember now!

There is more to shooting than just the speed and direction of the target! What about the prevailing weather conditions and the quality of the target presentation? I cannot see how a format that has changed by making two of the targets straight makes anything harder there must be some logic to the story surely!

edit

what I mean by this is that we are hearing of poor weather during summers and maybe that is just enough to affect scores through bad light or such like? I know that being able to see the target against a clear blue sky makes a difference to my score compared to days when it is over cast and grey.

Oh that's it John, now you've done it!

Anyway...I'm still looking forward to next week at SC. Booked in today. If between now and then someone changes the rules to throw bears arses, could you let me know so I can pack a banjo...

Will you be using a 4 string or 5 string?

OK chaps here's something for you to mull over.

All the CPSA cut off percentage points for Average Issue 37 - 45 for ABT, UT and OT.  DTL doesn't interest me so couldn't be bothered to include that.

From a brief perusal I notice that the cut-off for ALL disciplines are on a downward spiral.  Now OT and UT haven't had any rule changes to affect the height, distance or angles of the targets thrown.

Please feel free to discuss.

Bugger it thats complicated matters, sounds like were all just crap then :)

The lower orders in OT can shoot 28gm loads, and have been allowed to for probably three years now. Is there a correlation with that and the cut-off points for changes from D up to C and C up to B?

Good point phil. I dont know the answer though.
