Congratulations to the sheikh, Dubai and Nad Al Sheba for their immaculate championships from start to finish.
Well said.

I think that all congratulations should go to Sheikh Ahmad bin Mohammad bin Hasher Al Maktoum whose vision has made this brilliant top class event in Dubai possible. It was especially exciting to follow from afar...for those of us who were not there. It has been the best and most exciting thing to happen to sporting clays in years. Here is to watching the next one in 2015.

It was only a matter of time before the Americans kicked our backsides; most of their tournaments are bigger and better then ours, most of their top shots are professionals, they have much bigger funding for team USA, we are doing it on the cheap, ask anyone who has shot a tournament in the States. Unless we support our top shots better we will just get left behind.

Rhorn, that is not quite right....no one in the world kick *** like the Brits....

In the top 50 men we had 19 GBR and USA had 9.

In the top 50 women we had 19 GBR and the USA had 8.

In the money we had 10 GBR women and the USA had 3

In the money we had 19 GBR men and the USA had 9.

So in effect GBR kicked *** rather well in Dubai

We had 2 GBR in the men's final and USA had 2.

In the women's final we had 2 GBR and the USA had 1

Sorry I have to disagree with you Rhorn,   I don't know of any Pro shooters in the USA,  there are guys like Gebben , Will, Andy Ant etc who earn a living from coaching as well as shooting but I don't know of any pro shooter.

Team funding ? ask Will Fennell how much team funding he receives? unless team USA has improved over the last couple of years you'd be shocked.

What they do have is better coaching, better shooting psycology, etc., and they are dedicated to make the US team. our lads pick the shoots every week that pays the best wages irrellivant to the quality of the targets.

Nice post Tinker bell, once you put it like that it was a fantastic effort.

It's for these reasons that I have always personally thought you ought to be especially proud of having GD on your side, he has carried a fair bit of silverware back, we can go on and on about sponsorship etc, but when it comes to winning when it matters he has done the business.

Hamster I agree it was a fantastic effort by the Brits but what I am saying is we are getting left behind. I was at a shoot in January at south florida and six of their top shots did some fund raising and got $20,000 for team USA and they do this eight to ten times a year, Gebben was at the shoot and after that he went home to train for a month to get ready for Dubai we spoke to him! Probably why he won Anthony runs M&M and probably shoots ever day, it's hard to compete with that!

Totally agree with this comment! sponsorship needs to be more than a few quid off shells or some new shooting gear... it needs the profile raising and some money and coaching given to the top few chosen shooters.

Guru this year 2014 the PSCA has set up a pro tour....and some of these USA shooters are on it.

We also do the same. BICTSF Fitasc board members raise money in fund raising shoots. They do the best they can.

Our ISSF shooters are always getting pulled in to do fundraising for the sport....they upped it a gear in the run up to London 2012....

It is just that not a lot of people know about it if they do not read the mags.

The thing we need is more business sponsors who really get behind the sport (and they do not really need to be shooting related...as we know that there is not a lot to give away there). But to be fair....if you added up all the various sponsorship deals across all the cartridge and gun manufacturers...it would be quite a lot of money involved. There are a lot of sponsored shooters in the UK with one type or other....true story

Tinker Bell we used to win not just compete USA got a first and two seconds
We still win loads every year across the board in international events (individuals and teams).... The info is all out there and the page would be toooooooo long if I put it all on here

It is via UK Sport and Sport England....but it is as you say 'the top chosen shooters'.
It is £3.91 million from UK SPORT for shooting up to Rio from UK Sport and £1 million for shooting from Sport England.

Tinker, UK sport and Sport England are only interested in OLYMPIC medals! you can win Fitasc  World Campionships till your a** heals over but you ain't going to get any funding from those jerkers! :fie:

I shot with Wendell Cherry, Pat Lieske Doug Vine January and February and they told me of the work being done to raise money for sporting shooters in team USA. I think not much of the money from UK sport ends up with sporting or FITASC shooters or am I wrong.
