Stationary clays are VERY hard to break, particularly if you try and do it with a 1/4. Thats wh its always better to try and break a very long bunny whilst it has some pace on it. They can be almost bullet proof at range and rolling slowly.

 
I Will keep this as succinct as possible ....... Its a ridiculous theory that shot string can be effected by swing speed.

Was it face or belly on. Makes a huge difference as i'm sure you know.
It was at Willow Farm at least 4-5 years ago so memory isn't crystal but we had them set up both ways if I recall and I was genuinely blown away by how they simply would not break.

A few years ago I bought a 410 for my son and had him smoking 15 yard statics at Greenfields so to see a clay not even move when shot with 3/4 & Full at yardages you know you can smoke loopers does take you by surprise.
