Chalk farm today. Christ it was hard. 84 was leading when we left I hit 73 which looking at the scores wasn't too bad.
Hit one of the second crossers. Left it later and took it when it started to slow. Didn't need a huge lead as it was a midi, think I overled when I was trying to take it earlier. Didn't help that it was constantly no-birding when I was on the stand.Stand 9 was by far the coldest with the wind and sleet driving straight into your face, not overly pleasant.
How did you get on with stand 10? I couldn’t find that second crossed off the tower? I’m not a massive fan of 3 pair stands at the best of times but that definitely didn’t give me enough time to see where I was going wrong. That was my last stand so quite possibly it was just the cold affecting me .
Brave man shooting today. It's damn chilly!Barbury today, 50 Reg Sportrap for 11am start, was early, it felt chilly, I did not appreciate how cold I was getting, so much so that on the first layout my hand & trigger finger went numb with cold and I could not feel the trigger, wholly my own fault, not experienced this before but its taught me a clear lesson that my hands are not what they were in resisting cold and I need to protect them. Dropped a few, well many on first layout which I felt I should not have done so, managed to invigorate life into my poor mitts and shot the second layout well so ? in end.
Fair few superstars booked in, dont know any scores.
Despite cold, pleasant day, good squad, good targets at a lovely ground & happy staff, just what a day off shooting should be like.
Oh Barbury are running a summer series of Sportrap shoots, if you can give the ground visit
I managed to hit everything but no consistency and was to many random dropped middle/end pairs. Up on the scaffold prime example - 5 from first 6 then miss both on last pair. That white l-r needed some serious lead. Finished on 71. That 5 pair simo teal end of the first woods was just stupid. Scored 8/10 but was more luck as trimmed a fair few twigs back.Horne this morning. Lovely sunshine but the bitterly cold wind in your face made the shade a bit nippy.
Bit frustrated with myself. The tougher stands I shot well - 7 on a really distant incomer and looked for example - only to drop loads on a a couple of soft report pair stands. Finished on a 70.
I think being a short arse helped me on that stand, also hit 8.I managed to hit everything but no consistency and was to many random dropped middle/end pairs. Likewise it was nice to put a face to the name.Nice to meet you this morning, Jamie. I managed to hit two of the white ones, both by taking them very late. Could see them well early, but couldn't get on them quick enough. Through the middle part of their flight when you wanted to take them the dappled shade made them really hard to see.
