Also shot Owls Lodge today.  I don't think that there was a single 'soft' stand there, although there weren't many targets that weren't hittable.  I was a bit disappointed to have not topped 70 as I felt that I was mostly shooting well.  Most troublesome stands for me were 2 (missed first two pairs and never got on the further target of the sim pair) and 12 (I hit one of the second targets and that was it).  Didn't do brilliantly on the sim pair of overheads, dropped one out of the first pair, hit the next pair and then the wind blew and the third pair came through faster than sh*t off a shovel and I shot over the top of both.  Put me right off and I dithered over the last pair.  I was pleased with the fast birds coming off the tower on the two adjacent stands, only missed one.  Finished on a 67.

All the best finish on 67 😃

I really enjoyed the course, it was great to shoot some bigger targets. Felt like there was less pressure.

I managed to blank two stands in a row, which sucked.

The pair of rabbits, in front of all of them according to Mr. Myers.

Then the pair of L-R crossers. Slower green one followed by screaming orange one. Didn’t touch a single one.

Ouch.  Managed to avoid blanking, but only just.  I was annoyed to miss two of the rabbits.  It was practically at them they were so close, the second one was jumping a bit and I should have waited to take them a little later. Missed one of the green and two of the orange, green didn't need much and the orange needed taking late (for me it did anyway).

It’s fair to say I was a tad shocked. I don’t recall ever blanking two stands in a row before!

Shot the rest of the course fairly well so I’m pleased with that. Just those 14 clays REALLY hurt the card 😃

Ok, that’s what my thinking was after standing back and watching others shoot them. I was over shooting the green one and hadn’t noticed the orange one was actually banking away and slowing when left late. A much more sensible approach!

Scores are up on the Owls Lodge website.  Looking at them, I should be satisfied with 67.

Despite my score I enjoyed the round.  Blanked the two long birds but went back at the end and had another go and found them.  Overshot the yellow thing sim paired with the black.  Shot the small orange thing on the opposite side well.  Too long standing watching the overhead sim pair and missed 5 when normally I might miss a couple at best.  60 was what I got.  The downhill rabbit I got but at the end of the day that was the same colour as the ground it rolled down.couldnt get my timing right on either of the diving crossers.  Looked at my barrels a lot today for some reason.  Very glad I had paid and put aside cake for afterwards.

Not long been in from a very enjoyable round at Owls Lodge. A fair journey for us being a round trip of 300 miles !!

Nice to see so many faces & allways great to spend some time with my mate Roy Cherry, a excellent round i thought......was guilty of missing a silly one here & there .finishing on 81, really gave a few away...still nice to see some gaps on sometargets rather than missing in front ...........

Well shot to young James on his H/G score of 92

Yes about 150 people below you!

Well shot that man!!!gunsite for me,some big loopers there today and tricky teal.made the mistake of looking at my card second from last stand, put a bit of pressure on myself which cost me a pair on what was a very straightforward stand, finished on 88 so happy ish.🙃

Just finished Horne. Was on for a new pb but missed 4 on last but one stand and rabbit jumped on the last stand. Finished on another 91 so cant complain. I was marked as an 8 on one stand but knew I had missed one so got it corrected.
Well shot.  I was a mess this morning.  Trigger flinch on three occasions and constantly slowing my gun down (often not starting it moving in the first place).  65, which is well below par as there was nothing horrendous there at all today.

Thanks and shame you had a bad one but they happen to us all. As you say one of their more straightforward courses. Stand 4 I dropped all of the 2nd bird. Missed first one ambushing it then tried to correct but brought my hold point further left when i should have pushed out more. 4th miss my brain pulled the trigger about 2 secs too early and made me jump.

Well shot Simon! I started OK (shooting high number stands first) and was 3 away after half the shoot. Then tried hard to maintain it and missed stuff by hanging on, causing last pair gone on two stands. Then tried to speed up a bit and missed a few in front. Twit. An annoying 89 result.

Just got back from my first shoot of 2018.....can’t believe it’s March already and thanks to both the weather and work and/or family commitments it’s the first opportunity I’ve had to get out

Rather pleased with myself having put in a PB at Kingsley Moor of 93

Im thinking maybe the break has done me good.....if I don’t shoot for another 3 months maybe I’ll do a 97?

Glad to be back in the saddle though, today made me realise just how much I’ve been missing my Sunday morning therapy....

Best wishes all,

Gunsite for us too. Another classic Sean layout. Excellent as ever.  Started on fast looper and teal which was a mistake. Head on after that for an 87. Mrs Jasper 82.

Early start to get to Grange Farm and then on to Orston.  I find both these shoots tricky, at Grange there were no half measures I either did really well or very badly.  Less difference at Orston just a few too many stands with three or four away.  All my bad ones today were orange quartering in a variety of speeds and distances.  Don’t think I was the only one today either.  Adjusted my comb last night - not the height but the angle as lately I have been looking across my barrels and on the DT10 you have that nobbly bit and the right side was very pronounced.  I don’t know wether as I am aging the plumpness has gone from my face but today didn’t feel alien Shooting it the way it has been set up.  Neither of these shoots is a good indicator of success as I struggle at both sometimes.  Anyway a 71 and a 73 which doesn’t give me any satisfaction at all.  Long drive home.

Thanks Will. I shot stands 12-1 for a change as joined Britta and a guy called Simon Pearse. Dropped one on 12 and only 4 in total after 10 stands. Then dropped 5 over the last two - annoying. Glad I owned up to my miss on stand 4 as otherwise would have been a PB of 92 and I would know it was achieved unfairly.

Attended FITASC Sporting in Piancardato this weekend.

My last shoot was in October last year, and since we have hard winter still going on here it was my first shot this year…to say it was more than one could ask for would be an understatement. Some incredibly long and hard targets – still well placed, challenging not discouraging in a beautiful rugged terrain ranging from valley flats to narrow gorges and trenches (place hosted World FITASC in 2016).

Weather like – nice Saturday and rainy Sunday morning.

Saw UK chaps there Jeremy Baker, Jamie Passant, Roger Ward, Ward Dee…

If you happen to come near I’d suggest you pay a visit and shoot a round or two. It is a truly unique experience.

Well I’ve now shot poorly for about 5 shoots in a row. I even began to throw my toys around today, after missing 11 in the first three stands at College Farm. What’s going on! Sod it, I’m quitting the sport until Sunday.
