Court Farm for me too.  Mine was a game of two halves.  Dropped 24 clays over the first 6 stands I shot, then only 6 on the last 6.  All over the place at the start.  Poor hold points, really sluggish and barely moving the gun.  Probably the too many beers with the curry I had last night didn't help, it just took me ages to start moving.  Lucky to retrieve a 70 really, but feels like a waste as it so easily could have been an 80-plus day if I'd shot the first half anywhere near as well as I shot the second.
The amount of shoots where I think “can I just start that again please”.. 😆

Yup, what he said!

Despite the obvious debates on here, as long as it keeps working I have no reason to change my lowly 525 for something flasher, am happy with my cheapy cartridges, and have no aspiration to be a top shot or win anything as I can't see that happening without mortgage sized investment. So my dream would be to shoot once a week, at least, but finances keep me sane on that front so it'll always be a fun hobby and one I thoroughly have fallen for since I started a little while ago, hopefully shared with various charming, friendly people who are fun to be around. Have to reign in the delusions of grandeur, next leap will be cracking 70 on a 100 bird shoot, but that's good enough for me. :)
Well, posted this on the Cost thread the other day, and was genuinely actually shocked and dumbfounded today; best EVER result was a 68 at Bisley in the Police Open comp last August, and that was followed by a 64 two weeks ago at my club in Pirbright.... today we decided not to score (yeah, okay!) but I kept the figure as I went round: straighted about 5 stands and ended up shooting a 78!!! Even if I added up wrong, or missed one, that's still over my 70 target and I am absolutely over the moon with that!! So happy I was wondering what the hell had happened.

Anyway, just luck or I am actually getting better (although that doesn't explain a 20% increase in my score!), but it was a great day of shooting this morning and puts me in a great frame of mind for the Navy Invitational comp at Owls Lodge this tuesday. Thanks to those on & off of here who have given me tips and pointers over my 8-9 months since I started shooting. 👍😃

One of those rare days when I couldn't pretend I left anything out there, 94 at Greenfields registered which given the unexpected rain, poor visibility not to mention the targets 👍  felt like it might be in the money and very pleased I am too to find it was enough for HG. 😊

That's twice in a row I've had to douse the gun with oil and wipe it when I got back 😛  Essex Masters on Tuesday looks to be yet another wet one. 😐

Wow, well done Hamid, i can but only dream of a 94 at anything these days 👍

Garlands to start today and I was thoroughly enjoying myself when my ejector broke but part stayed in and jammed so had to stop after 7 stands.  I love the shooting fraternity, everybody offering their guns to finish the stand.  Sadly couldn’t bear to just watch Tony shoot so went back to the car whilst he finished.   Went then to Kegworth where we managed to get the stuck bit out and I shot with Tony waiting to dig the spent cartridge out with a penknife.  Don’t like that just makes me feel rushed and out of rhythm.  apart from two white clays that we found hard to pick up everything else you could see.   I didn’t shoot particularly well or with heart to be honest.  Anyone know where I can get a bottom barrel DT10 ejector from?

I had an ejector fail on my 725, it's quite a distraction! Well done for hitting a second shoot!

Sure Brierley Guns can sort you out?

Thanks Doug didn’t even think ..   I wasn’t going to shoot but then I’m such an addict.

Were shooting with a lady friend? I was keeping an eye open for forum members.

Court Farm for me too, stand 1 put a smile on my face, a 20 yard rabbit with a 10inch bump in the mat, followed by a close crosser disappearing behind some bales. The rabbit was positioned on the edge of the mat so you never knew whether it would hit the bump and go airborne or not. Conditions were good, not much wind, just a mist which wasn't a problem.

Missed some silly ones on stand two then things went quite well and I ended up with 12 more hits than when I shot it last time during one of the named storms which soaked me to the skin. It was a lesson in understanding what effect weather conditions can have on the score.

As I was driving to the shoot around the M25 fog kicked in about three miles from the shoot and it was still murky when I arrived at 10:00am, I was testing a new pair of (clear) prescription glasses which worked OK although I found they tended to mist up from my breath when I called pull, probably due to the murky weather. Luckily this was mainly on one stand where the wind was in my face.

The amount of shoots where I think “can I just start that again please”.. 😆
I missed one of the simplest going away orange targets and jokingly asked the scorer if I could take it again.

I was shooting with my husband, brother and sister-in-law.

I shot Stand 1 last (we skipped straight onto 2 to avoid the queue).  Only one I managed to straight all morning.  Four stands on the trot going up the hill where I was one away on every one 😖.

I dropped four of the following pair of orange ones.  Shot down the right hand side of it every time.  Knew where I was missing, but could I do a thing about it?  That's it, Saturday nights are now tee-total for me.

Northampton yesterday, another well balanced round. In my opinion they alway seem to get it right there. Shot 77 which was not too bad with the new MX8. No major disasters, just dropping one, two, and three here and there which soon add up.

Essex masters for us yesterday, nice shoot again, weather was decent. No outrageous targets but plenty to catch you off guard. 190 currently setting the pace I believe from R King and A Harvey. Personally I think some of the big boys will fancy doing a couple better yet. Always some discussion points with a water rabbit and a moorhen. All in all a very enjoyable day out, you do need to be good on quartering away though!

A4B60CE9-4C5E-4B16-A8D7-3285A2620306.jpegEssex Masters for us today. As usual a very good, well attended shoot. Weather forecast not as bad as predicted so no rain. Was still overcast and windy in some places. A couple of 97’s in today which was awesome. Red course first and a few stands over water, bouncing rabbits which caught a few people out.  Stand 13 on black course a rabbit going up hill! All in all I thoroughly enjoyed it, and again fantastic targets.

Got tired at the end of the second 100 and dropped more then I should have on the last 4 stands which was a shame for me as I never shoot the event well for some reason, don’t think I’ve managed more than 120 before and I ended up 74 on red course and 71 on black course for a total of 145.  I should’ve been delighted with that but I missed sooooo many silly ones here and there!

Was at Owl's Lodge shooting the Navy Invitational, so basically armed forces & emergency services in attendance only. Was chatting to the the organiser who asked RIchard to put on a standard registered quality shoot, and boy were some of the targets tricky compared to anything I've shot before! All very enjoyable, was happy with the 59 I came away with bearing in mind I've never shot a legit registered, straighted a few stands and didn't blank any: three tg hit 94 on the day. One of our fellas who is generally considered the best in the brigade hit 87 and was very matter of fact about it so I wonder what he'd do if he competed full on... albeit he's no interest in registereds and classes and the like. Just for fun with that quality,... isn't that cool? :)

College Farm today. Crikey it was unexpectedly bitter cold when we started and our first stand was not kind, so we all dropped a few there.. Stand 2 was a card filler really, then everything else was a fair to firm test. Cross to cock up the last two stands when I shouldn’t have, so a reasonable potential finish became an annoying 83. Not an easy shoot though, lots of edgey fiddly stuff, much of it fairly distant too. 87 leading day 1.  Anybody finishing on 90+ deserves a pat on the back.

Essex masters. Really enjoyed it but a few costly stands ruined what would otherwise have been a really great scoring day for me. Happy to have had a good day though. Aquatic targets are obviously not my thing......

Barbury this evening, first of a summer series of registeted Sportrap, pleasantly warmer than the day I had spent in Somerset, wore the old branded Hull shooting vest for the first time this year. As ever a bit of a challenge, they do like to put on a big a target as Sportrap allows and to be fair one did hit them all but just not enough of them. Happy enough with my shooting of it as in past Ive been mauled here,  ones shooting 😊 reappeared today

I thought that most people were shooting clean in front of both aquatic targets when missed. I shot straight at both of them when I killed them, needed no lead at all I found.

  Reminds me of Billy Connolly:-

Pamela: "would one like to give one one?"

Billy: "one would like to reciprocate"
